there are 8 plants there that look just about ready; I would wait a week or 2, take cuttings, and then throw them into 12/12 at about 12" in height.

They popped ground on 6-15-09

They are double dipped sour banana OG kush, super strawberry diesel, and big buddha bluecheese .. im trying to promote more branching in between time so would switching to hps and keeping 18-6 do that?

also, i have an issue in the plant problem forum..thx +rep all

Nice strains! They should branch/bush naturally, best not to cause stretching under HPS, save it for flowering. Post back July 22nd

Thanks for the props

i added more lights .. theres a 400 mh, 4 26w cfls, 4 24" flotubes. probably put em 12-12 friday and take clones after sexing. or i could clone 4 sex...i d k

what strain? looks like it'd be a good SOG if you were so inclined. doesn't sound like they're feminized seeds, bummer. Got all that from HTGSupply eh?

Super Strawberry Diesel( Strawberry Diesel clone x Sour Og Kush male)
Double Dipped Sour Banana(Sour banana Og kush x Sour Og Kush)
Big Buddha Blue Cheese Feminized (Skunk No. 1 (Cheese) x Afghani) x Blueberry

i got all my starter supplies from htg a while back.

enlighten me on sog .. what would i need.

You originally asked 2 questions:

1. Should I change my vegging plants from MH to HPS to try to induce minor sexing?

Do not change your bulb to HPS while vegging your plants. The whole benefit of the the blue-tilted light spectrum of metal halide is that it decreases stretching as compared to HPS or any other time of lighting. The blue-tilted light spectrum benefits early alkaloid production. Furthermore, it is the light cycle and not the bulb spectrum which triggers flowering.

2. Can I flower them, determine sex, and revegetate the plants?

Yes you can! You can revegetate flowering plants all the way up to harvest. You simply put the plant back in an 18/6 to 24/0 cycle.

**Note: If revegetating the remainder of a harvested plant, be sure to leave several small growth buds. Also, fertilize with a high Nitrogen solution. However, be very careful not to drown the plant. It has the same root system but much less foliage -- don't overload it.

Good luck with your grow.

+rep.. thx for the info... how long does it take to revert?.. im trying to get sum type of perpetual harvest goin

Thanks. To answer your other question, two main factors affect how long it takes a plant to revert from a flowering state to a vegetative one.

First -- the genetics. Indica plants are more photosensitive than Sativa because they are natively from a higher paralell. Consequently, they are more responsive to changes in light. So Indica will revert faster than Sativa, for the most part.

Second -- the stage of maturity. A finished plant will take a long time to revert. The little buds will unravel over time and start growing again. A plant that has not been flowering long will take much less time to revert. Good luck!

i have a question that is on the same subject... when putting the plant into 12 12 light cycle about how long does it take to start showing the sex of the plant....

dont steal the thread stoner.

i agree with whoever said that its the cycle of light (not the spectrum) thats affects flowering.

as to say that MH makes them more bushy than HPS, i dunno bout that. That's purely anectdotal

a lil update.. left em in 18-6 .wont change it til friday
