Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

I received my card back in September. I went through Innovative Express Care.

I just received an email from them concerning scheduling a one month post follow up appointment.

I don’t recall this being discussed when I applied and I can’t find any info on the state website.

Is this required? Or just something Innovative Express is trying to push?
I was going to go through IEC until I found a closer doc. They originally told me they have follow up visits and they are optional. If you check their website they have info about it. I thing it’s like $150 but again they said it’s recommended it not required.

Papers received by the state 8/17
Check cashed 10/23
Caretaker received card 10/31

I am still waiting on my card, and am fearing it was lost in the mail. Has anyone received their card after their caretaker? Or should I request a replacement at this point?

I have not received my card at 77 days and my caretaker received hers 2 days ago.

If you call them: “we can’t answer your call, please email us”

When you email them: “we can’t email you any helpful information or inform you of status”

How about you hire someone to answer the phone or respond to emails, it’s f***ing 2018.. if they need more info, they’ll take the time to send you a f***ing letter in the mail via USPS.. wow.. seems very expedient.. What Genius is running this operation?

I just got through to the hold music. Was on hold for 8 minutes and then hung up on. What the hell.

It’s beyond ridiculous. When government does anything, they do it wrong. At this point, I’m pretty sure the only way to talk to someone would be at the IDPH office, in person.. but I guarantee they will also be of Zero help to anyone. If I lived close enough I would have already paid them a visit.

I agree. I'm pushing 100 days since my app was received and can not find out a thing. Springfield is about 2 hrs from me, I would make the drive but I work during their open hours.

You will definitely be getting your card sooner than later. I received this email from the state of Illinois when I asked how backlogged they were in regards to processing applications (see attached picture). They are currently processing applications received in the month of August. I imagine that once they get to applications that were received on the 28th that the process will speed up dramatically. All applications received past the 28th did not require a background check/fingerprint which should decrease wait time.

I hope this info helps people. I have been lurking for a while in this forum.

I submitted my paperwork online on 9/26, the state received the application the moment I submitted. I have not heard anything other than what was mentioned in the email that I attached a picture ofView attachment 4221040
Edit 11/2, original post was 10/24: Here is another official response from IPDH(see attached)

I had the same thing happen today.

I really think they hired the least motivated people for this approval process. I had the same experience today.

I’m around the same timeline. Submitted online and card charged 8-19. I haven’t received my card yet. I’m guessing from previous wait times, we should have our card Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Good luck and keep us updated. I’ll do the same.

Thru IEC

8/13 appointment
8/20 payment approved / receipt obtained from the Patient Alliance
10/15 emailed / DPH confirmed app received

No card yet. I think it is wholly unacceptable to delay medication like this. What type of health department is this.

When I applied for my card in California, I also received a permit same-day from my health provider until the card arrived. Unacceptable program in Illinois.

It baffles me that people are getting so upset that they have to wait a little long for a card that legally allows you to buy weed! I get it, we all wish we could get it the same day, but that’s not how it is set up! Bitching and moaning that waiting 100 days, and other states have different laws and wait times, does nothing! I’m sure if you were at work and you at 10,000 people calling/emailing constantly and annoying you, it wouldn’t make you work harder! Not trying to ruffle any feathers here, but just remember, you are going to get to buy weed, LEGALLY!! Be patient and relax some, and the less you stress about it, the quicker the time will go!

It is inexcusable. It's not just buying legal weed. It's people trying to get some relief from a health problem. It never should've been set up like this, but compromises had to be made to appease politicians raised on DARE and Reefer Madness.

Soon it will be all fixed with provisional access.

Most people are looking for relief from their medical problems, and are looking for medicine, not drugs. I have been dealing with a lot of pain in my back and opiates make me sick to my stomach. Needless to say I was suffering like most people waiting for their card and this can truly make me more irritable. We should be making more of a stink about this because of the fact that this it is medicine and not just weed. This process should be no different than going to the pharmacy and handing off a piece of paper. IL has the most oppressive cannabis program and has vast rooms for improvement.

dude it’s people like you that are the reason there’s a long wait. You just want to buy legal weed we want our medicine that has less side effects and less addiction than opiates and Benzos or any other crap big pharma puts us on.

YOU are the reason people thinks it’s all about drugs. It’s not. It’s MEDICINE!!

I’m starting to think you probably work for the IDPH medical cannabis application processing department. Get back to work slacker. Stop bitching and moaning about people bitching and moaning. You’ll be alright.

Haha yup! I monitor all these message boards and the people who complain, I take my time with their apps...

When my clients bitch and moan their work isn't getting done, I work overtime to get it to them.

I dont know what this guy is talking about. It's not simply about buying weed legally, it is getting the medication we deserve -- hence the "medical" marijuana program. Pah.
