IGROW Induction Lighting....anyone?

my shop is trying their best to sell me these lights, and i have to say....they have my attention....

i saw them today in action, and they are bright as fuck!....low temps, no air cooling necessary, 400 watts each.....i am seriously considering making the $2500 investment for 2 units to light a 4 x 6 space.....

would love to hear what the nerds have to say about this........

1) how long does the bulb last?
2) how much is replacemnt bulb
mercury in the bulb, but says its recycleable???

I've seen those. I've been leaning towards the Inda Gro ones. Been saving for a couple par 420's. 420 watt. those run for $795

According to Spliff. IGrow is a rebrand of full spectrum solutions. The ballast failed on him after one month. He then switched to inda gro.

I myself have talked to Darryl at Inda gro several times. One thing he had told me was unless I'm using that light for veg too, do not buy one. Because of spectral shift going from veg to flower. He was not trying to bullshit me into buying one either. Then again it could of been reverse psychology lol... The guy who started IGrow worked with Darryl too.

i am thinking of having the manager out to my Lab....but am not quite there yet....he already said i could possibly get a commission......it is all in its infancy....but i would really like to try them, so i am going to see if they are willing to work with me....

ballast covered for 5 years....they say bulb lasts 10......replacement bulb is just under $400.....if you do a serious cost analysis....it is quite profound....factoring electric usage....bulb and ballast replacement...if they can prove the efficiency and performance...it will be hard for me not to pull the trigger......i am skeptical, but like to try new things.....the problem they are having is publicly proving that they grow dank herb...because obviously that is a huge % of their market....

i have not used them. I have done hps/mh, par t5, and led. EDFL Induction is my next venture. Those links will provide info and you should pm splifferous. He is all over the threads in those links. He has more experince with those lights. Even email Darryl at INDA GRO. Those lights have a 10 year warranty and are $405 less.

it might be a stupid question but how can they tell that new technology will last 10 years? they have not even tried it one year? hehe just curious as to what they do to test that,,, same goes with LEDs, rated for 50000hours but they have never actually ran them for so long (the newer...).

I like the versatility of these lights, and I agree. the igrow lights look much better.

Now, that said

the bulb is massive, how much is it to replace? If there are issues with the ballast or bulb. Can you easily recover from these issues? The thing I like about HIDs we have all our components separate so if I have a ballast or light issue it's not a crazy expensive thing to have a back up and swapping out these items is simple. Having my ballast being part of my hood means that any problem I have (warrantied or not) becomes a big haste.

What is the rate of lumens/sf @ X ft. ?

It all looks nice, but like plasma lighting (also induction). Tesla stuff is nice and yes it works, but it sounds more like a sales pitch. They are working off of a design that was invented just after electricity was discovered. lol.

i think i may buy the 2x2 unit for my test cab and timewreck scrog....it is about $900......and see how she goes.....the only way to know for sure is to test it with what we dO.....my shop says they will back me 100%, prhaps because they have a feeling i have a lot of friends....

.....i want to do this mostly for all you guys really....what better place to test it than in the Lab!

the good thing is it doesnt provide a lot of heat, so it would cut costs a bit by removing a couple of fans. Looks like a good lite overall.
i just dont like the fact of how much it is. For $900-$1000 you could have a couple HID's and a good ventilation system. Same quality buds with probably more yield with the HID's. not trying to shoot it down because I can see why someone would use it. Just not my style. Would be more than happy to see a test from you nugs...

I would use one in my veg tent. The price is steeeeeeeeeeeeeep though

yea, 1200 goes a long way in some new HID fixtures.

But if you live in an area where EL costs are crazy, it could pay for itself quick. Quality/density of the product would be my biggest concern. I still haven't seen a ton of LED grows that put out buds like HID ones, so tech like that is always a concern.
