Got my cxb3590's on digikey, my mw120 drivers from mouser,mouser also has the angelina ledil reflectors but not the holder and reflector connector.Didn't want to order from alibaba or cutter cause i don't know what the shipping and import tax is gonna cost for uk.

HuntAk here. I've been lurking around and learning from all of the post and comment.
Great job keeping everything fresh and updated. My question; I am building a 15 cxb3590 cob on 3 36" heat sinks
I purchased the Ideal cob holders, will the angelina ledil fit these holders?
Thanks in advance. I plan on building a thread to show what I am doing. Cheers

You should ask...cutter have a free shipping option I guess! (It is better to take Australia post to try to avoid tax!)

Hi, Im looking to purchase CXA 3070s for a diy light. Besides the 3000k, 3500k, 5000k and so forth, what are the differences between the cobs?How do I choose? Do they all give the same results?

dont cheap out. 3590s will pay for themselves and a larger heatsink is usable forever
I decided to get 2 of those heatsinks 42" in length and the cxb2530s @3000k from Cutter for $9.5 each. I have enough cheap chinese power supplies at home to run 4 of them / strip @ 700mA with two additional 9v 5700k cxa1304's at the same current. Might be some heat issues, if there is Ill just throw a couple old PC fans on each. Not ideal I realize, but I dont think I could do much better for the <$200 investment at this time.

Tough time choosing which LED to go with and what to do as far as grow configuration because of mental block. Room isn't really an issue because I have a 15'x16'x7' area..... Not really wanting to go over around 25-30 KWH per day in flower. Not sure if one big tent is better or 2 or 3 smaller ones plus a small lower watt veg room.

Something like 2 kind 1000w LED would put it at the KWH needed but at the cost of $3,000 but could get 4 (maybe run 3 and have a backup) of the Mars reflector 192 models which are 900w for around $1200 which also have the veg and bloom switch which would save on cost during veg stage.

When thinking about the KWH, need to also think about fans, filters and everything included.

Need help on what to buy. What would be the best way to utilize the 15'x16'x7' area?

Don't buy either of those lights. Check out Pacific Light Concepts, Johnson Grow Lights, or Tasty Led. These light will not disappoint you like the other lights will. Kind LED has a display light with 2 broken fans on display. WTF. This was at the MaxYield show.

When type in Tasty Led grow light on fleaBay it comes up Mars 2 400w grow light.. Nothing really comes up with the other two either on the auction sites. I'll try a search in the search box here at the forum and see what I come up with.

Im guessing thats for the 36v or is it the same for the 72v?
Ya, 36v version.
72v = 7 strings of 24.
Vero29 = 156 chips...12 strings of 13 chips.
3070=11 strings of 12 chips

Based on the max current of the 3590(3600ma) and 3070(2800ma), the max current per chip is just under 260ma. Both use the same die...just more of them in the 3590. Then nomials between 160ma-170ma. Vero's are driven at similar currents to crees chips, but have higher max operating currents. Yet are less efficient at equal wattage/current.
I only know the basics on vero inner workings and their performance, but I'll add what I know here for comparison.

3590's
1400ma in...then spits by 14 strings(1400ma÷14=100ma per string/chip)
700ma in...then spits into 7 strings(700ma÷7=100ma per string/chip)
3070
1400ma....then splits into 11 strings(1400ma÷11=127ma per string/chip)
Vero29
1400ma...then splits into 12 strings(1400ma÷12=117ma per string/chip)

Tech talk was supposed to a panel kind of thing. We all got too busy. Even when it first started we were busy and not quite settled in.
I would like to get it back going. It will happen when it happens.

From what I see looks like Johnson Grow Lights uses all white LED cobs. Dunno know as much as should after all the reading done but don't really like that right off the bat so their probably off the list at least for me at this time. TastyLed is out of 5 of the 8 lights they offer (maybe that's a good sign) so not much of a selection there. Pacific Light Concepts doesn't seem to have a physical contact address and the Whois information is blocked so I don't like that either.... Thanks for trying any how.
