I think all of you commercial light builders and advertisers should start worrying, tty is pioneer, a true inventor and has a great eye for design, quality and safety. Some of his innovative prototypes have changed the way we grow so show some respect.

Im gonna start posting the IM's if they don't go the fuck away. 4 months seems like an awfully short time to become Dojo Master around here, but what do we know? eh :)

How many pages back do I need to look to learn about LED from people that are knowlegeable?
I would start at the beginning and read forward, mostly just to become familiar with how drivers and cobs are paired... but the good info is all over the last 3 years or so. There was talk about doing a thread of threads to be stickied but it never happened, partly because posts become locked and can't be updated. You can do a search for posts by Stardustsailor, SupraSPL, and topics some of which may include efficiency spreadsheets, the math behind, and anything specific you can think of once you have a basis for queries.

A wikia was probably the best idea, in retrospect. Keeping any information organized here is a literal impossibility.

This is all good except when you get to the unknown chinese leds being 40% efficient. I'll eat my own hat if that is true. 40% is actually pretty great in the overall scheme of things. I'd love if I could light my house with that kind of efficiency.

shall we just start a thread called 'my dick is bigger than yours and I know more stuff too' ? and delete the rest of the LED section?
that seems to be the sub-theme of every thread in this forum

the efficiency number isnt the point of that post, its about the reason we all build leds is to get the same par from less electricity, other wise we could all be spending less on panels from alibaba

ie the $ per par watt is about the same but the par watt per real watt is much higher with good quality components

anyways

All I can see is a bunch of bitches , bitching.

Great thread!

Seriously?

Hahahahaha
Unbelievable........

You can save a lot of time by going to Growmau5s YT videos. He is using current tech and parts to make excellent DIY, or just buy an Amare Technologies and grow man, grow

Your example had China cheaper than DIY and more efficient than HPS. I wasn't spotlighting the error to make you feel bad, but because it could lead to some very bad conclusions for people trying to grow.

So i need some help as to what LED to purchase with regards to the amount of power it ill require.
The space i will be using to flower will be 2x6. i have 51in from my current hps to the top of the bucket so height is a issue.
Im not against diy however i want to get the maximum amount of power to the plants so i want to spend my investment wisely.
The room temps are perfect. i am using DWC with good results.

What size hps are you currently running?
What's your budget?
