I have a 2x2 veg tent looking for a passive cooled setup. Would you guys recommend between 2 and 4 cxb3590, cxb3040, or between 2 and 4 vero 29s?
Also, 5000k or 6500k, or mix spectrum of the two?

Let them throw a tantrum. If they want to put a cx300 against an amare in a sphere...I will supply the cx300. There are no mistakes and biases in a sphere, nor will a lack of education and understanding hold back the results like it does though human relaying it as we have seen here.

The highest a cx300 has ever sold for in it's history was $749.99 and is the original MSRP if someone wants to get real. The cx300 also pulls ~340w if they want "actual wattage" like they put for amare. Bringing PLC's actual down to 2.20/w according to them on original msrp/total watts(might I note not taking into account wattsin:lightout...which is where efficiency widens the gap further) And the discounted is far less, ask the real commercial growers.

Basically the cx300's are always $699 or less for a single light...420 sale were $650(was discounted more for multiple), and now have a msrp of $725...so they need to get up to date anyways after 4/20. You don't even have to know there is a code. If someone ever emails asking about a cx300 or components...PLC answers the questions and tell them about the code. As well as ask if they want an invoice direct.

Really cool of you to chime in. Yep you always do give a code you gave me one as well, and I always let others know you offer as well. Thank you for that. I posted theses as they came from every ones web site. How long ago, that I am not sure. But again not sure what the numbers would be after every ones discounted codes.

If they do the testing will you look into having your unit tested as well? I honestly don't care for the test as I have a small spot. I know it makes a big difference in larger spaces. And atm I am under my own impression that most will come out to near the same results as I seen a lot of the higher their cob makers such as your self use top notch items. Wouldn't the results come out near the same?

Now I am not starting a fight I am interested in this as a person, and again I could be thinking about this all wrong feel free to correct me. Half the wattage from the amare unit is from the mono lights. I don't have the full draw but (I'll get if needed) of what it is with just the six cobs on. Wouldn't it be near the same results be near the same with just the six cobs on no uvb or monos? They are using Plc (said next orders will be meanwell) 48%@50w a cob.

With all that

Thanks again.

My concern with the Amare is if you take away the 300 watts of supplemental LED's, you're left with 150 watts from the 6 COB's. For the money, I'd rather have 2 Tasty T3-2100's running 454 watts of Cree CXB 3590's. I also have the option of using reflectors instead of lenses. Which if you're not foliar feeding, can provide another 2-3% PPFD (if I understood correctly when he explained this too me). Tasty would be $1,060 vs the Amare $1,145. I can pick up the UVB for under $50 for a fixture and bulb. If I want the lost 300 watts of supplemental, I'll pick up a unit running 3 or 5 watt Bridgelux or even Epistars. After all, it's only supplemental. I also don't like the spacing on the Amare fixtures. Compared to the Tasty, the spacing of the COB's is much closer, like half the distance. Maybe that's why according to the charts they sent me, the have a pretty quick drop off on the perimeter. I feel I'll get much more even coverage with the Tasty's vs Amare. I've only been researching LED's for a week now, and maybe I'm missing something here, but for my money, I'll go with CXB 3590's without the supplemental lights.

Im not qualified to make suggestions about the current best commercially available lights for your space.

If youve got the interest i suggest getting into the research and diy. It will be cheaper, brighter and best suited to your particular layout. And a huge plus is that you will learn a lot..
I am not a DIY, I am a go to the hydro store and grow kinda guy.
No one ever posts any more info =/ budget? Height? Goal? And what are you using now?
3x3x7 space. budget is under $2,000. Goal is 12 oz minimum, max goal is 16 oz.

Now I am using 450 true watts of (2700k) CFL's and 375 true watts of (6400k) CFL's in a 3x3x7 space. The goal is 8 oz

NO, Its meant to be questioned.

@5$ a watt.!!! Bro for 1k you can build a beauty.
Yep I could. One day I will. But again every one has their reasons for buying a pre-made. For me I took the time to learn some (not all of course) so not a pro. I am also rebuilding my bathroom and building my grow space + a work out room with it. The last thing I have is spare moments to sit down and make something.

I have two California light works 440 with uvb bulbs. Have an issue with them during s current grow so they will need to go back. I wanted something I can put with my current lights that was cob but I feel would add to and fit in good with my lights to grow together. I love the idea of uvb and since my current LED's do have them, I wanted that on my cob unit as well. Than it also has the monochrom specs (can be its own lighting not supplement lighting) that go with it.

My total space 12x2.5. Only 8 foot of that I'd plant space. I say all this because there are reasons when pre-made units are better than dyi, I simply do not have the time to spare and am in need. The warrenty is 5 years bumper on it, most I see are 3 years.

Sorry for the long rant but yes I known that I can get more if I build it my self. Same if I make a sandwich or build my own home. I can save money. But if I am out on the road, fast food can make sense.

Either way I am still learning about all of this as well and love all the input. I am sure down the road I'll also be able to build a better unit than if I was to do it now.

When cannabis around you is very crappy and poor and 100$ per quarter a week. You can very easily justify spending that much money on something. Let alone a lot the people around me are not the "trustful" type.

Also lol, questioned :p I didn't see a question mark at the end of that or any other company for that matter heh. I do like over lapping lights as well, but going of recommended specs.

Gotcha. Perhaps someone with knowledge of the best commercial matchups for your space will chime in. But its a basic structural advantage with led rigs to have a large frame spreading the emitters around your target area. Thats why i would question the design strategy of a 12" box effectively illuminating a 3x3.

Yeah there was a good amount I was looking at but I did buy the amare in the end. It came in right around 900 with the they 420 sale. I will do some compare grows with it, but I was needing to fill a 4x2.5 spot, and that will be more than enough.

But I understand better about what theses other pros are talking about in terms of efficiently. That to me comes a lot more into play in bigger/commercial stuff. To me a 450 unit is more for personal not commercial. I would think their pro9 would be much better suited and geared towards that. I say that because a uvb lowers the amount you get, but increases potency. In the tests I read lowered around 5%, so if you put that into play commercial want mass amount so they wouldn't even use that.

Just my thoughts. I do know nothing about commercial growing either. I stick around to keep learning though.

I found a hydro store in my area that carries that. I will go pick one up soon. That one was the one I wanted anyway.
I can't recommend that bud. I do like these lights but there are from like 2014. I'll be doing a compare grow agasint them. Could be the over hyped I seen on cobs(I don't think so but maybe) but I think cobs will win.

If you do want to go with them, I recommend talking to the makers, I bet they offer you a better deal.

Of coarse anyone can fudge msrp to riu discount price to favor one light more than the other. After 420 sale the se-450 was 800. The pacific is 725 and I believe came with higher shipping too. Not to mention the out of stock note that's been posted for ages. 2 years less warranty too!! So the Amare is a whopping 75$ higher but also comes with 60 Cree leds that double the light for veg use. Kills 2 birds with one stone. A decision is pretty simple on which light to choose. Again I will mention the countless emails replied to promptly with a smile. Anyone comparing prices forgot a few important details. Had enough fun here with the bickering so I'm logging off. Gl to everyone

All I ask is that you get your numbers right if you are going to keep replying. The cx300 was $650 for 420(2 week sale) and now is $725 regular price instead of $750 like it has been since its release. That is all MSRP...no codes or discounts. If anyone went on the site then...then that is the most they would have spent on a single light.

It gets better with multiples and codes for everyday pricing and everyone knows that for who ever the company is.

So dude...not sure why you keep bringing PLC into you conversations. Specially if you keep lying about the numbers for your benefit.

Talk your thing you bought up all you want and SHOW some good grows with them.
And I'm glad amare stepped up from 2530 to 3070...right as PLC goes to 3590's. I'm glad you guys like the cx300. But it's not the latest and greatest anymore. Just one of the best values still.

So for someone who complains about no real world use...use the real world numbers not the ones stuck in your head.
