What about the UFO LEDs? somebody on another thread suggested one, when I checked the specs, it covers 25 sq ft or 4 plants. Is this right? and also, would it be enough really for at least 2 plants?

Hi RP. No way you could flower 4 plants with a standard commercial UFO, or 2 really. From what I've seen most UFOs suck but if you add extra lights you can build a pretty good grow space for 2 plants. LST/Super Crop them to keep the canopy low and even, plus it will help give you a good long veg time which you'll need if you want to pull some weight off of your plants. UFOs aren't really a good idea, you'd be better off looking at what CaptainMorgan is doing with his CREE bulbs IMO. Plus ya can't go wrong with a 10 year warranty :).

4x4 tent, what would be the better option? 1 800w solar storm or 2 Area 51? Thanks
Well fathat we're all a little A51 biased around here but 2 A51 would be killer in my book and gives you quite a bit more flexibility than a single 800w. I've never owned panels from either of those companies but both of those panels can get a bit hot by the end of the day without good circulation in your grow tent. You do what you want but I'd wait a few more weeks for bonsaihero's (hans) latest panel which may run a bit cooler and 4 of his in a 4x4 could give great results for the electricity used. Plus at that time all the majors players we like around here will have their latest offerings available. Not that it makes choosing easier :). Good Luck and Happy Growing.

I am coming down to the final 2 weeks using only led globes up until flower then added 4 @ 22w LED tubes in a 2 x 4 space. The tubes run ~ $35+ shipping, min order $100)

Come by and see how well the clones are doing under WWs.

Got a email into a company making 2400s!

Thanks for the advice, I wish I could wait but one of my 500w black stars took a shit, and I need something in place before I start flowering in about two and a half weeks. Cooling won't be an issue, as I have a 6" ac line running in and a 440 cfm exhaust out. I really would like an American made one, the price difference between the two isn't that big of a concern, I just want the best results.

Hi all,

This seems a perfect thread for the following question:

I will be supplementing 900 *actual watts of existing mixed spectrum CFL's(2700Kand 6500K). These are spread out over 22 bulbs, and I have plenty of room to add. I need more than 1 unit to cover the growing area, but have not a clue what to choose.

http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-10-Watt-Tri-Band-LED-Grow-Light.asp

Something like this size would be perfect, only I'd buy like 8 or 10.

Is that a good brand, and if not would love to hear any suggestions.

TY in advance for any assistance.

Peace!

I've never seen any spectral data on WW CREE bulbs but I bet they have a bit of a tail in the FR range. Maybe the strain just digs the lights and environment. Plus the Cap'n seems to be a pretty good grower so all that helps too.

I wouldn't really put too much faith in those. Look at something like these if you want something with dramatic results.

These are more expensive but probably run at the spectrum advertised compared to the cheap stuff.

There are some dealers on Ebay that sell arrays like these, they work pretty well and are pretty easy to work with.

Hope this helps. The cheap stuff just never cuts it.

FJ, awesome find!

Haven't found coverage anywhere on their site though. The implied operative phrase is trust us

They want $320 for a single 4 ft bar YIKES,

I can buy 10 iBrights for that money, which would easily cover 4 x 5 area

I have been doing some homework on the subject, and my hesitation with using LED's is related to UV output. These lights have been developed for general growing usage, while cannabis in flower requires a fair amount of UV spectrum for proper terpene development. Or am I missing something?

http://www.led-grow-master.com/LED_Based_Plant_Growing.html

"On average, nearly 82% of a traditional white light product's light
energy is of little benefit to plant growth, and in most cases is harmful to plant health. In a typical HID, HPS, or MH
light bulb this harmful energy is in the form of intense heat (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) radiation that you cannot see but
can certainly feel."

Peace

Buds are starting to conect a bit and seems the stretching phase is almost done, Anmesia Haze looks real good and high yielding, LA Confidential starting to get real sticky and dense, king kong 5 seems a little behind, but looks pretty darn nice as well.
full spectrum LED with UV, SCROG, DWC

hey RIU, long time admirer, first time poster. i've been growing for a few years now, mostly outdoor (got about a dozen auto's out atm), but i have grown indoors with a 600w hps in a very simple set up and having experience the unbridled heat of a hps lamp i'm looking at led for my next indoor grow. specifically was looking at either getting two han's panels or an a51 sgs 160 for my 2.25'x1.75'x5' cabinet grow and was wondering your opinons on what to go for. Also was wondering how essential having a warm white bulb is if i go for the hans (would fairy lights suffice).
