I was originally going to get two A51 W90 lights, but since they're difficult to get, how would two 95W White & Deep Red Hans-panels compare? The Hans panels are definitely more expensive, but currently seem like my only option for mostly white light if I don't want to go DIY. The space I'm working with is very limited and I'd classify it as "micro", 75cm width x 45~cm depth x 75cm height.
I was just talking with A51 the past couple of days. Ordered some myself. They're getting an order in this week (although I have no clue how large a shipment it is) and told me the 4000K and 5000Ks should be about a week shipping. Up to 8 weeks for the 3000K. Shipping from TC, Michigan.

I've tried emailing them, but they haven't responded in a week or so. I guess they're just too busy.

Are cxb LED lights the best on the market right now? There are so many LEDs its a bit confusing. I'm looking to build an led light for a 5x5 area that can outperform a hps light. If I want to build the best light with whatever is available on the market right now, what LEDs should I look into?

Hello all, I'm searching help to start my first DIY LED Panel.
First I have to say sorry for any mistake in my English but I'm from Germany. I hope you understand my questions even if my grammar is not quit correct ^^

before I start building a Panel for my Flower tent , I would like to test my soldering experience on a small panel for vegging / mother's only.
I have read so many threads and found so many information that I'm really confused.

Actual I would like to build a Panel which can keep my 3-4 mothers alive and if possible, do vegging until December this year
the tent is about 3x3ft

I have ZERO experience in building a custom lamp.
I already bought a china LED panel but I sold it very fast because it was a cheap solution and the results where quite bad.

For my Panel I was thinking of 1 or 2 CXA 3070 5000k, I found them in 80 CRI AD bin which should be a high bin.
Would this driver work for me: meanwell lpc-20-350 or is there any other solution more efficient?
My plan was to drive them with 350ma but only because I have read that this is super efficient and needs only 12 w per COB

I don't understand anything around that.
How can I pick a good efficient driver for my light?
How do I know how many lights I can run with 1 driver?
Is it a good solution for veggi/mother light to use dimm function?

I already know which driver I should go with for my flowering tent but I have no clue about my veggi/mother light.

Would be very cool if anybody could help =)

I would say CXB3590s are best but Vero29 isn't far behind.They are both workhorses and very productive
Being strain/skill set dependent. Yield#s fluctuate between .75 to 1.75
Many other variables need to be looked at when deciding what is right for u? Do u scrog or grow trees?
That will really determine what optics ya need and how much power needed to each COB and the spacing of COBs.
If u have any ?s just ask. There are many here that know whats up

I can imagine only thing that weighs anything significant are the drivers and heat sink. Also, one more thing I'd like your opinions on are the dry buds of hps vs leds. I'm getting conflicting answers. What are your thoughts on density, thc production, colors, and overall quality of the buds from each?

I'm growing sort of like bushes with a support net in a tent. Plants are about 3 feet tall, bottom stripped. I'd like as much penetration as possible without over doing it. I'm very familiar with the strains I have right now, I'd know if anything different happens with using the LEDs. With that said, I'm pulling about average .4 gpw per grow on a good to decent run with a 1k. Heat and humidity are the usual culprits. How much heat do these LEDs I want to build actually produce? About as much as T-5s or hotter? Just trying to get an idea.

I just finished a run with heavenbright V2 and his current setup is working fine.
I do rec if u go heavenbright? try the V4 because of the chassis coverage area.
I am getting heavy/dense buds from Vero29/CXB3590s and if your canopy is heavy? 90+ watts thru optics to each COB.

Just heard back from optics. They told me that they are in the process of updating website and servers. They're also replacing the 500W and the 360W models with a 400W model. The website should be back up in a few weeks, but they are still processing orders through amazon and ebay.

I've got two 400W HPS with Eye Hortilux and considering their short lifespan and the electricity cost to run is so high, I'm looking at options. These are about 10 years old but only have been used for one grow. I've been looking to replace them with LEDs as a cost saving with their longer lifetime and lower expense.

So the more I look, the more I'm seeing different panels of hugely different wattages with some of the low watt panels being expensive compared. Just to pick out a couple of examples, a Ledgrow 150W panel is $450 shipped. a G8LED 450 watt panel is $599 shipped & a 600W G8LED is $900 shipped.

Why would someone find the value to buy a 150W LED when a 450W LED costs only 1.3 times as much? I read so many posts where people are talking like their 150w or 200w are better than a 600W HPS.

So is there something about a new LED maybe that is incredibly efficient & is used in the lower powered expensive panels & that what they say about these lower powered panels being equal to the HPS is true? Or is it the raw numbers that are true and I need a 600W or larger high quality LED panel to be as functionally good as my two HPS with Hortilux bulbs?

Stay away from most LEDs. All the ones you listed are no good. Look for an led that uses cree cob LEDs. Also vero LEDs . most Lights that have that purplish look are no good. Exceptions being bml and osram. Do some reading on here for sure. There are good LEDs out there but there are alot more junk than good.

Looking at the lights I'm still trying to figure out the answer to what equivalent a low watt "top end" LED is equal to, compared to a HPS? For instance, from the Amazon link above, I am looking at a 200W Cree LED CXB3070 which sells for $539, their 450 Watt is $1499

Well I've been wrong in my math so gonna try not to get in to the numbers too much.
The HID lights run around 30% efficiency and cobs can be ran at up to 70% efficiency as realstyles has that going on now for high color cobs.

Also factor in the discount % for GGL and the Johnson lights. That's 450$ for GGL and even less for Johnson for 4x cobs

Some of the sites are still standing up so its best to just email them for clarity.

What they really equal compared to HID is still under lots of questioning because most of our rating systems for light effectiveness is not perfect.

I went from 1kw HID to 400w led. And on this grow I have two low yeild strains and one good one so I can't say how I'm doing because of my weak strains. But with 1kw hid my lower branches would be much much stronger than they are under these LEDs however the heat made it too much work where with LED I have to work to get my temps above 76 deg f where with hid I had to fight to keep them below 90 deg f

Its really about how much light do you think your plants need?
I have found that 200watts Cree/Bridgelux COB will cover a 2x2
I use around 700 to 900 watts in 4x4 5x5.
IMO the great thing about LED is a standard Intake/Exhaust adequate to remove the heat so no extra extraction equipment is needed.
Coverage area with COB production fixtures will be determined by case size/emitter spacing and optic used?

Any 100K linear potentiometer will work.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but that driver will only run 3 cxA's at once at 50w each. Unless you meant cxB or already knew/planned on only 3.
