If using flood and drain can resevior be clear?

In order to see the progress of the nute solution intake, and since the roots arn't kept in this container, and if the solution is changed every 7-10 days, could the resevior be transparent?

I have seen hydro systems and reseviors to buy online with no tops so maybe it's ok.

Thanks

if you don't mind having algea in your nute soup, then sure, that's a fine thing.

but in all seriousness, no. clear is not a good idea. algea competes with your plants for oxygen that is available in water, and can lead to other problems as well.

instead of using a clear reservoir to monitor nutrient uptake, invest in a ppm or tds meter. it is a lot more accurate and safer than eyeballing it so to speak.

The Hydro ones don't come with a top. You buy it seperatly. Seems they make more money that way. Same reason light don't have bulbs, sinks don't have faucets, etc. VV

maybe you should step back and picture what kind of work your giving yourself. Changing the res every 7-10 days? You'll eventually go on to like 2-3 wk of change and thats when you'll have a massave algae problem. Theres already alot of work for hydro and changing your res that much will only add to more work that isn't necessary.
