If true how will this affect/or not affect the california mmj business

I want to preface this by saying that I heard this but havent verified it.

I heard that Obama signed a law that federal law trumps individual state laws. How will this affect Cali and their lax MMJ laws?

Does this mean that people will start closing dispensaries?
Will less people grow?
will counties and state start cracking down?
No change at all?

what do you guys think? maybe this is old news IDK, just heard it through a source and wasnt sure if it was new or not

The cartels down south-of-the-border would just LOVE for the MMJ business to go away in the U.S. providing more black market opportunity for them. The government in general has been picking and gnawing away at our rights and liberties for years, because most people are too fat and stupid to know or do anything about it. There is going to be a showdown soon, as everything will reach critical mass and people will say enough is enough...but it may be too late!

Federal law will always trump state laws... why do you think the DEA has been busting completely state legal growers?

Federal law has always trumped state law. But only if the feds care to enforce it. For example, most states have a higher minimum wage than the federal minimum wage. But you dont see feds cracking down on that. The federal government grants power to state government to make and enforce laws. Since they grant them this power, they can step in at anytime to negate laws made at the state level.

From everything Ive seen if you are a medical grower, keep within your limits, and keep things nice and quiet, you shouldnt have to worry about attention from the feds. They are after the big guys like dispensaries and illegal growers that have massive indoor or outdoor grows. Very rarely do they bother with a little grow, even if its not medical.

I certainly hope our south of the border buddies step up their quality or they can count me out.

I thought dude was joking until I figured out he wasn't. Some people simply have no business growing smoke. Morons like this are the reason the feds are fucking with us.

pretty sure in the constitution or the bill of rights it states that state laws actually triumph federal laws i actually talked to a attorney about it.. look it up if the federal law overrides state laws we would of never had a medical marijuana industry.. because the feds would of just turned it down instantly if they could.. but because some of the dispensaries are moving 100lbs a month it is ruining for the rest of the PATIENTS the people who actually need it.. people get greedy and because all the dispensaries got greedy now that GOV. is getting greedy and trying to bring the medical industry down or into their own hands so they can get a bigger piece of pie.. like the whole pie

FYI i know what a dispensary is and most of them are just in it for the money thats how they are ruining it and yes there are plenty of caregivers that are in it for the money too... most of them own the dispensaries.. im not here to argue or fight with somebody on the other end of the computer im saying how it is... id say 5 % of all dispensaries are completely not in it for them money the other 95% is... i believe in having a safe place for patients to go and get there meds but many people have taken advantage of patients with the prices they charge

Here's some interesting reading on this topic: http://tenthamendmentcenter.com/2009/02/09/state-sovereignty-movement-quietly-growing/

States are becoming more and more hesitant to just follow the Fed's marching orders. The real problem most states have are "unfunded mandates". The feds makes a state do someting expensive...yet don't pay for it. This was tolerated while times were good. Now that we're out of money we'll be less likely to just do what we're told. Dissolve the DEA and reel in the FBI to investigate their original mandate and you'll see that the FEDS have very little authority to enforce any law within the USA. I remember a time when we didn't want to fuck with mailing anything cause "that's a federal rap". It was a big scary thing...a line that you didn't cross. Now that line doesn't even exist.

I have always believed that state's rights issues are important to our little industry. Our country was founded on the idea that people of like mind could move to the state that best suited them. Willie Nelson should not live in Texas. But if you have a problem with weed, and you just can't get over it, YOU should move to Texas...or wherever.

Great topic and maybe the road we need to take. Let the feds think what they want about pot...just remove their ability to enforce it.

It's because the dispensaries fucked it up. They forgot that pot is illegal. They forgot that they were only getting away with selling smoke because the voters thought that the seriously ill should have access to marijuana as medicine. They forgot that using chicks in thongs to advertize their medicine as 'dank', 'chronic', and 'fire' to healthy young men might not be a very good idea in the long run.

And I don't mean all of them, just the majority of them.

I agree 100%. I would ask that people do not give business to dispensaries like the ones DSM describes. I will not vend to them. Helping these dispensaries will hurt us in the end. I like the places that are low key, kind of hard to find, and utterly proffesional. HollyWeed in Hollywood is a great place. 70+ strains, dozens of concentrates, and a hash bar right onsite. That's right, Hash bombs right there. They even sell $15 ear wax hits. It's expensive, but I see folks getting them all the time. One dude stops by everyday on the way home from work for a hit. It's hard to find...just a sandwich board on the sidewalk.

Dispensaries aren't ruining anything. Money is power. They should be trying to get more money. Money is what is making mmj difficult to stop. The DEA would love nothing more than a bunch of broke collectives to pick on who can't afford adequate legal defense.

This idea that if we were all broke and giving medicine away out of the goodness of our hearts then the government would leave us alone is a load of crap. As long as we are growing bud there are going to be people who want to lock us up. That doesn't change if dispensaries make less cash. All making less money would do is not allow dispensaries to defend themselves against the feds.

Get paid! Have good lawyers! If you don't, the legal system will walk all over you.

And you think that if these dispensaries stopped doing this the feds would leave us alone? Fuck no. They are going to come after us just as hard no matter what. If medical marijuana was restricted to just the terminally ill and gave away bud for free, the feds would still come after us. These people want us in jail no matter what. Might as well do whatever you have to do to get paid so when they do come after you, you can afford to defend yourself.

No one needs a lawyer until they do.

You can act as pious as you want, but the idea that medical marijuana is supposed to be or should be all about doing everything for free is just not realistic. To be successful in this industry you have to work hard and risk your freedom. Why shouldn't people get paid for that? That money is what gives medical marijuana power more than anything else in the long run. Politicians and law enforcement have no problem acting against the will of the people or what's right, but if you through the power of money into the equation and that might be what gets us legalization.

You may not like what I'm saying, but you know I'm right.

dude im NOT trying to say weed should be free and that is NOT a realistic thing what i am saying is bullshit is dispensaries selling weed for 400+ dollars an oz when it costs about 400 dollars to produce a pound indoors and less money outdoors.. yes i am a hard working person that does work their ass off keeping up on my grow.. but after being a grower and know what it takes to produce fire i could never charge somebody over 200 dollars and oz no matter what and if your not making enough money selling it for 200 then 1. your greedy or 2. you don't have a big enough grow.. my grow is only 8k in the flower and i pay my bills pay my taxes and have PLENTY of money left over to do whatever i want with. SO REALIZE IM NOT SAYING IT SHOULD BE FREE.. I DO AGREE THAT GROWERS PUT IN HARD WORK AND SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE PAID FOR WHAT WE DO BUT I DONT THINK THAT A DISPENSARY OWNER SHOULD BE JACKING THE PRICE 100% UP FOR WHAT THEY BOUGHT IT FOR.. DISPENSARIES ARE MIDDLE MEN AND WE ALL KNOW MIDDLE MEN JUST WANT THERE MONEY..

YOU MAY NOT LIKE WHAT I'M SAYING, BUT YOU KNOW IM RIGHT LOL
