One of my plants died due to heat stress, Is it safe to cut the roots of the plant that died to avoid damage the healthy one?

Im guessing ill have some root rot but will it be too detrimental?
i tried untangling the balls but theres no way im gonna do it without damaging the healthy plant.

just cut off as much of the dead plant away and leave the roots tangled as nutrients.
I did just that, i tried to cut off as much as I could from the dead plant im sure I also cut some from the healthy one, So far it hasn't shown any signs of stress, but im also sure it will be stunted for a few days.

Wont the dead roots start rotting?

it is not a big deal, I grow 6 regular seeds in a 6 gallon tote and cut out the males with never a problem, I do run Hygrozyme and that is supposed to eat up the dead stuff
