If I have two different fan+filters in one grow space

Hi RIU, if I have two different fan+filters in one grow space, in this case a 4 inch and a 6 inch. My question is will the 6 inch do most of the scrubbing and leave the 4 inch basically useless sucking up hardly any air/odor. Or will the 4inch accomplish in scrubbing it's part? I plan on getting a Phresh filter the 4 inch model because its more affordable than the 6 inch. But will have my cheap 6 inch filter scrubbing as well. I just hope it doesn't steal most of the air/odor away from the 4 inch, so a good part of the odor will get scrubbed by the Phresh filter. Any thoughts? Thanks for the read.

It doesn't work like that, there is no competition between the two. If you have two then use them both, two is better than one.

The 6" will be filtering significantly more air than the 4" if its a centrifugal, i don't see why you would need 2 though, how many watts and how much space are we talking about here?

hey there, we're talking about a 3x3x10 space. The reason I have two fan+filters was because I upgraded to an aircool hood and its flange wasn't a 4 inch. So I had to buy a 6 inch fan+filter. Only air cooling a 400w. Maybe more efficient to not use the 4inch fan+filter and get a 6 Phresh scrubber instead? thanks for the read

Yeah but indoors there are boundaries, like how fresh your air is, if the 2 fans are cycling threw the same stale air over and over its pretty useless, and a 4" centrifugal fan could easily ventilate that cab let alone a 6" centrifugal, if i were you OP i would just use the 6" fan to ventilate your grow chamber, your air cooled light and your carbon scrubber, you are just wasting life of the fan and the scrubber by running it with no reason to do so, OP i would save the ventilation system for when you actually need it for something...

yeah man thanx for the replies. I just thought of a cool idea. Why don't I just run my 4'filterfan up in the attic where I vent. More like a two stage scrubbing, think that would have a double odor cleaning effect? I do realize using the 4' where the 6' is, is redundant. The 6' is plenty for the space, nice negative pressure, although with just the 4' I can't notice any at all. have a good one

That's some what a long the idea of what i was going to suggest if you had a similar response, using the 4 inch to exhaust heat out of the room would have the added benefit of bringing in coolish fresher air into the grow cabs room from the rest of your house and having the 2 different ventilation systems set up like this would double buffer your odor filtering and help keep the room cooler, at the same time though you could accomplish all of this by routing your 6" flexible exhaust duct into the attic. You can set it up how ever you want of course, I'm just letting you know you really don't need the 4" for anything so if you need it for something else use it on that, but if you want a double buffer zone of odor control that set up would more than accomplish it, of course it would be more efficient to use the 6 inch to vent from the room to the attic and the 4 inch to vent from the cab to the room, if it is capable, but if the 4 inch was not capable of cooling the cab then it could cause serious problems, so it might be better to use the 4" to vent to the attic and the 6" to vent the cab so that if you really need it you can turn it up. Keep in mind all of this is based on me believing that your home is cooled by central air and if this is the case any air you exhaust to the out doors will be replaced by air from leaks and holes in your house so you will be paying for cooling how ever many CFM you push out of your house during the summer time...
