If buffet wanted his secretary to pay the same income taxes as he does...

He could simply pay her in stock...

Problem solved eh?

How does such a smart guy manage to be so dumb?

he was just using his secretary as an example of the hard working people who have to pay way more taxes than the rich

unless they invest in stocks and get capital gains...

Or sell a house and make a profit from capital gains.

And please be clear... They dont have to pay way more taxes, they have to pay a higher percentage. Buffet paid a SHITLOAD more money in taxes than his secretary. Romney paid over 3 MILLION dollars in taxes last year. The rich are contributing the majority of the federal taxes in America and half the citizens pay NOTHING. Yet somehow this is still unfair?

why were you so happy to talk about proportionality when the subject was who is on food stamps, yet now you are trying to confine things to raw totals when it comes to taxes?

seems kinda fishy.

Your tax rate or tax bracket?

So, you paid about $6000 dollars in taxes last year? 500 dollars a month? That is pretty fucking impressive... You didnt get any deductions? You didnt get to deduct any mortgage interest etc??

And we are just talking federal taxes here, not state... Dont mix the two up cause states like to soak you as well.

You are not even middle income and their effective tax rate is 12% or less after loopholes, etc.

We were talking about the percentage of people on food stamps and now we are talking about the amount of taxes witheld from people. I fail to see the connection you are trying to make....

Can I not say that it is a sunny day anymore but have to say the percentage of clouds to be consistent?

i said "effective tax rate". as in, based on what i earned and what i kept after refunds, about 22% of what i grossed did not come back to me.

i don't have kids, i don;t have a mortgage, no deductions. this was in 2008, where i earned somewhere between the 15% bracket (
$8,351 – $33,950) and the 25% bracket ($33,951 – $82,250). i did get a hefty raise halfway through the year, which likely explains why i clocked in at such an odd number in the end.

you never answered my question, either. you are a one trick pony: deflect, deflect, deflect.

god forbid you ever answer a question :dunce:

when we were talking about food stamps, myself and others pointed out that the majority of people on food stamps were white. you were all too happy to point out that minorities were proportionally more likely to use food stamps.

now we are talking about taxes, and your all too happy to point out that the wealthy pay the majority of taxes, and all too happy to ignore that they pay a much smaller percentage than the rest of us.

basically, i am pointing out how you are a partisan hack who like to cherrypick.

^^^^there is no answer to my question there, you pathological liar.

let me repeat the question: i make $28k and pay 22%, romney makes $20 million and pays 14%.

IS THIS FAIR?

option 1: YES
option 2: NO

no more deflection.

Answered in the very next post...

Yes, it is completely fair.

Because one is income tax and one is tax on capital gains. Those are two separate things.

If you risked your money on real estate, stocks, and/or other investments and are lucky enough to make a profit you only pay 15%. Any American can benefit from this.

Raising capital gains taxes slow down the economy.

Here is where we are at now...

Lets say you make 100K... You are taxed at the highest rate of lets say 30K for argument purposes. You then invest the remaining 70K and manage to double your money over 10 years to 140K. Then you sell the asset and have to pay 15% on the profit of 70K which is 10,500... So out of 170K the government gets over 40K of it.

What did they do for the money to start with? Why do you think the government is entitled to more of it? Do you really think your life will be better if the other guy gets stuck for more taxes?

You have constantly stated how much better off you are doing under Obama and how you seem to base your economic health on the level of taxes you pay and the amount of money you keep. Yet somehow you completely forget that in your haste to stick it to the next guy and make sure he pays more.

I want everyone to pay less. Who is greedy again?

ha.

you can't deny it.

and you never even provided examples where i try to do the same.

you have been called out for your hypocrisy.
You are a hypocrite because you refuse to acknowledge the VAST SUMS of money the rich paid to the federal government by pointing out how your proportion is higher.

You are a hypocrite for dozens of other things we have argued about for over a month but you refuse to see it so why should I waste any time trying to get you to notice that your shit stinks just as bad as everyone elses?

alright.

we have established that you think it is fair for a millionaire to pay half of what a working joe does.

have fun selling that in the general election!
A millionaire pays 150K per year and the average joe like you pays 6K - 20K a year. And you call that the rich paying half.

Ladies and gentlemen this is what happens when the liberals teach kids new math...
