Hi guys,

Is it possible to go from a 18/6 growth veg cycle in the early stages to just perhaps a few days or so of 12/12 flower cycle to identify a plants sex earlier on?

And then back to 18/6 cycle to reveg?

Cheers,

You could. There are also testing sites like this below where you can take a snip of a leaf from a early vegging plant and send it in.

You will probably need at least 10 days of 12/12 light before you get the gender reveal you are seeking. I am growing some plants now that seemed to take even longer, Cherry Pie, I think.

You can always clone a plant and put the clone under a short-day light regimen. Make sure you tag the clone and the plant you got it from.

Back in the 70-80s used to grow RK skunk we used to cut them back to 12/12 until they showed sex then turn them back to veg it was all gorilla grows so not having an issue with males was a big plus never suffered any ill effects but it added weeks, nowadays I snip clones and immediately put them in 12/12 less stress on plants and they all keep vegging

This year I started putting seedlings outside Mid April. After a coupke weeks they started showing signs of sex (May 1st). I didn’t plan it that way but I was able to weed out all the males.

There are a couple of ways of doing this without testing.

1. Bag a branch for 12 hours a day until that branch begins to show sex.

2. take a clone and root it on 12/12 lighting schedule which should show sex

3. Switch to 12/12 and wait for sex to show and then switch back (possibly causing monster cropping)

4. veg them long enough until they show on their own.
