Ice Cream Strain Review

Good strain if you find the right pheno, but the range of phenos is large. Out of 6 seeds that I grew out I got two plants that had good bud structure, one of them I would consider close to perfect, but the others were varying degrees of miserable, one completely unusable. Ripening time, 15 weeks. The best one had very thick and perfectly shaped buds even on the very bottom and was quite resinous and potent. Wheb cured the smell is actually a lot more like bubble gum that the actual Bubble Gum strain from Seroius Seeds, which didn't smell like bubble gum at all, just plain old generic weed smell, and was also less potent. Those were from the "regular" seeds, I haven't tried the feminized ones. I thought the regular ones would be more likely to be like the true Bubble Gum than the fems.

Fortunately, Paradise Seeds appears to have retained clones from the original Bubble Gum, before Serious Seeds neglected it so badly that it became generic weed and not even particularly potent. They also retained the original White Widow from "Ingemar". Ice Cream is not as resin covered as pics of the original WW but still has plenty. The crappy bud phenos were actually as potent as the good bud ones, just low yield and looked horrible.

So in conclusion, it's a good strain overall but you have to do a pheno hunt to get a satisfactory one for production, most of them will be pretty much useless, unless I was just unlucky and happened to get mostly bad phenos from the 6 seeds I happened to get. The reason it was 6 is that they give you 7 seeds instead of 5 and one didn't sprout. Also I wouldn't harvest it at the time specified on the package, being about 9 weeks. It's not at all done at 9 weeks, but then I've never grown a strain that was so the understating of maturation time is not unique to this strain or company, it's rampant in the industry. It was harvestable at 12 weeks but to get full bud density you'll need about 15, just like with every other strain, but 9 weeks is a joke unless your goal is low yield and low bud density. I suppose it would be smoke-able and you would probably get high enough but it would be crazy to sacrifice the weight and bud thickness by not going full term to 15 weeks. If you already went 9 why not go the extra 6 required to get the most from it? Most people are just in a hurry to cheat themselves out of yield and quality. Why? You would have to ask them because I really can't imagine the motivation behind that kind of thinking, they're just underachievers I guess and like to sabotage their own efforts by being in a big rush. Maybe their house is on fire, who the hell knows? Harvesting weed at 8-10 weeks is what noobs do.
