I Want To Know-Am I Racist!

Just got back from an A&W, I wanted what I always knew as a Black Cow. It's now called a Root Beer frosty at least at this location. The white kid who took my money told that I was racist for calling it a Black Cow.

But, the A&W up the road still calls them Black Cows and it's written that way on the menus, too.

Are we raising children that are too sensitive? Or am I a racist?

You have all said what I have thought since it happened. I was just too shocked to tell that pimply faced kid what I thought. I heard of this happening to others, but to be told I was racist by a teenager just blew me away.

I am very tired of the Jesse Jackson type response to just about everything. I still can't understand how ordering a drink can make a person racist.

When I worked downtown I didn't respond to being called Cracker, Whitie, Honkie and now to be called a racist!!! I'm still pissed off. I thought that as a country this was supposed to be getting better, but that is not how I feel about it now.

well, I always thought that it was called a black cow because of the black and white spotted cows? of course if you dont live in an area with cows or just stupid people I can see wher a kid might get the wrong idea, this was just stupid... however it wasnt till I was much older that I learned that what we used to call Brazil nuts(the slang term) was horribly offensive :), at least the kid is aware that there are such things as racist comments, more than what I knew growing up. Does PC go too far? of course it does, but I'd rather it go too far then not far enough. If it really bothers you I'd go back and explain WHY its called that, education is the best for all.

The OP has no obligation to educate an ignorant minimum wage counter operator.

Exactly, and what happened to customer service and respect for you elders.

If this kid keeps popping his mouth off, someone will shut it for him.

Well, I disagree. Depending on the circumstances, especially when dealing with young people, I think we all do have an obligation to give correct, helpful information. How else are people supposed to learn?, wait till someone "shuts it for him"? yeah that'll teach him the proper lesson :)

And I think the above quote is total BS...

Dont ask me to compensate for the lack of educational system and the total liberal bias of the media about politically correct crap.

I have a right to ask for a *black cow* in peace. The OP should have gotten the counter worker fired by his supervisor, that would have taught him a proper lesson about respect for the customer.
