Nor Buffet, nor Walton, and surely not a few Saudi Princes.

I just think a billion would be enough for me. Maybe once I got there though, I'd want MOAR just like they do. I honestly think it would be hard for me to not share a cancer cure.

Now if my magic pill was a wt loss pill, that's different. I'd likely be the world's first trillionaire.
You will share your cure since the govt would take it as soon as they found out. ...while we all cheer.

I said the moon, not NASA. And I am not talking about pollution. Don't dodge around so.

Can we go to the moon today or not?
I equate NASA with going to the moon. I equate the mission to going to the moon with the expansion and popularity of NASA and science.

We can travel to mars, of course we can go to the moon. We couldn't go today though, if that's what you mean. It would take a little longer.

If your question is what should we do about GW, then we are in agreement that we shouldn't be trying any manipulation methods other than cleaning up things. I'm not on board with cap and trade or other measures that still allow the same behavior but it costs more. That doesn't make sense to me. Those solutions come from people who don't understand who really pays those costs.

All I'd have to do to prevent that is partner with one of the major pharma companies. They are part of the same government.

Tell me you are not one of those people that think the ACA is actually for the people's benefit.

It is bigger than that. You don't have a real read in. You could get that if you ignore what you read in the Press. Going to the moon was nothing but a jab a Russia for the Nuke high ground.

Another benefit was we nearly broke Russia in the race. Also part of the plan. That was seen as a great thing during that time period. You seem to be assuming because I didn't list everything I could think of that I don't know anything about it. Are you just in an argumentative mood today?

We don't have lifters, anymore, like Saturn 5. We have the tech to build an inter-planet ship in Orbit. But, WHY??? There is no place to go. Our robots will bring metal asteroids into Earth orbit for mining, or for a war boot, (Footfall, by Larry Niven) but, we will never get around to a colony on Mars the rate we are going. Civilization will crash in the next few thousand years no matter what.

Too damn cold for a global civi, soon.

I thought you liked our discussions. Pick and choose?

I usually enjoy ours more than most, that's a given. I'm not used to you assuming what I don't know and stating it as fact while discussing. Did I piss you off being rude to the circle?

I also see no benefit to moon missions today. I thought you were just asking if we could, not if we should. No I don't think we should, yes I do think we could. Maybe I just misunderstood your question?

I think an Elysium type colonization is more feasible than mars colonies.

How droll. No one has ever pissed me off on RIU.

We did break the Soviet Union. That is the fame of NASA.
Our proxy wars was the finishing blows. Our moon race inflicted the most damage.

I see most of what's going on the middle east as more of the same. The US vs Russia in proxy wars.

Good, just wondering, the only time I've ever seen you combative is when somebody attacks you first or picks on one of your peeps. I've never attacked you, so I figured it must be the latter.

Just know I try to live the same way. But when attacked, I go on the offensive, that's just a character flaw of mine I guess. I need to learn to let more of that go.

Gin, somehow you got mind fucked into thinking this is not what is going on. This is exactly how it works and it has come to nothing so far.
-------------
Make alternative fuel a competition with fame and fortune as the carrot. Make the prize enough that our brightest minds may see the risk is worth the reward.
-------------

There are litereal 10s of thousands of grants on this question. The auto industry is spending Billons of their own money on this.

More money does not mean more discoveries. You just have this wrong. It is popular superstition, that this is not the life work of over 1,000,000 people today, hard at it to get an alternative fuel to the market.
I'm glad you mentioned the autos. Henry Ford was a leader in his time for alternative energy. He was working on electric cars in the 30's. Have you ever seen his hemp mobile? Our gov put a stop to that little project.

What we do presently is give money to research but only under specific guidelines. If you wanted a research grant to study the viability of a fuel source that is unapproved by uncle, you would be turned down.

Don't know...

I'm cynical in that I think we are self-serving as people. I think when we focus on "the greater good", we do so at the expense of the individual. My philosophy is the opposite, if we focus on the individual, it can only help the greater good.

I don't think we the people are intentionally against we the people. I just think in the partisan, it ends up that way. I'm not big on collectivism.

Don't worry if I was to actually attack you would know, without a doubt.

May I disagree, at all? :)
