I think this may be overwatering but wanted a second opinion

How often are you watering? What makes you think its over watered?
Thanks for the quick reply! The one set of leaves is heavily curled downward. It's been two days since I watered, soil still a little moist, I'm gonna give it another day.

Also my first time starting seedlings with QB's. Blurples was an easy formula, QBs I see a lot of different answers.

If your unsure about watering I would never recommend using such a large pot off the get go.

What exactly do you mean by qbs have different answers compared to blurples easy formula.

I've always started in the pot I'm going to finish in, I'm no expert, but this is my 7th time around. First 6 went great.

Blurples like viparspectra on their website tells you how high to hang, and what it covers per period, seedling, veg to flower.

With my QBs, flowering was easy, full blast 18" no biggie, awesome results every time, but I got my QB's after veg was done my last two grows.

If you search the forums, when it comes to HLG there's no set formula, most people say between 12 and 30 inches, which is huge, and usually for flower its 30-35 QB watts per sq ft, Veg 70%, but can't find a definitive answer on seedlings.

If the leaves curl up I'll know the light is too close, but the leaves curling down had me a little concerned.

Well to backtrack I don’t think you’re overwatering because a plant that young would exhibit much more drastic symptoms.

Also I don’t think that you can read too much into cotyledon slightly curling downwards especially since they look healthy and the first true leaves do as well.

With regards to too much light I would suggest getting a meter even a cheap one so that you have a reference.

If that’s out of the question I would start at around 36-40 inches for a plant that young and move it closers as necessary.

Are you dimming your light to 190 watts or is that max output?

I run 2x qb288 at 4000k for my 4x4 veg and seedling area and I keep it 40 or so inches away from the plants. They run around 300 watts.

I also use a qb100v2 at 4000k at times for seedlings and young plants and keep that anywhere between 6 and 16 inches away.

But a meter is definitely beneficial even a lux meter which is around 40 dollars. Apogee has a website that you can covert lux into ppfd and umols/s depending on your lighting spectrum.

It may not be as accurate as a par meter but it will give you a good reference point.

There are the two informative and useful websites to convert different light values.

It may not be of much use now but if you get a meter it will be useful.

Without a meter for reference I would rather give them too little light, have them stretch and then adjust than give them too much.

Thanks man! And no max output is 340W, I think I'll raise it back up to 30", I just thought they were really stretching too far

Looks great. It was explained to me that you can't over water a well draining medium, but rather water too often, creating lack of O2
for the roots. I use a 16oz. condiment squeeze bottle and rarely use more than 1-2 every other day until 2wks. in. 4day autos.

Looks healthy to me. I use a shot glass and water around the drip edge every day when they're babies. My first run with an HLG 550 I ran seedlings at 50% power, 30" hang height and they stretched. Dropped the light to around 25" and the stretching stopped.
