I think I have a male. Heat stress. Veg @ 4 weeks

Could this be the male headband? If so I want to possibly get the pollen and save it. I will post pics of the other headband that I think is a female due to the way it is growing compared to this one.

Unfortunately my camera isn't the best but here he/she is. If anyone out there can tell me something I don't know from observation or give me any advice about anything (I've got the temp down to 82f now.. they sat @ 95f for a day.) please don't hesitate to post.

Both are in 5 gallon buckets under 250hps and some flouros as well.

I also have an Afghan Kush Ryder auto about 3 weeks old - (World of Seeds) and 2 fem babies about 2 weeks old: one Critical Kush (barneys farm) and the other freebie Cotton Candy (Delicious seeds) along for the ride.

The two headband @ 30 days veg are unknown, only know they are from Washington (West coast USA).
The Afghan Kush Ryder is a feminized auto and the Critical Kush and Cotton Candy are both feminized. All grown from seed.

Thanks everyone :joint: :peace:

Sorry about the last two. They show the right way when I go to upload them...

2 early 2 tell man,but u want ur temps down, gona stress them out
Yeah luckily I have it at a steady 82 right now (with my air purifier pointed at the cracked open door). I'm going to have to extend some tubing down into the room from the a/c vent inside this closet. I'm planning on doing this and adding an inline fan to it so I can suck more cool air in the room.

I'll prob purchase a magnifying glass on Amazon tonight. Can anyone tell me about force sexing and if I can still do that to these and then let them veg more?

Also, can anyone give me advice on pruning? Should I be doing this and how is it done? I read the mainlining thread a few days ago and it blew my mind. My first grow I did not touch them. Only leaves that were basically falling off at the bottom. I did top both of these but the one I think is a female (that I will post pics of soon) was topped better. I say this because on the one you see pictured instead of pinching off just the middle node or whatever it's called I'm honestly not sure and will go try to look it up (sorry noob alert!) I also accidentally pinched off another area(again not sure of the term or word?) right by it leaving one. So on the female indica bushy looking headband I only did the middle and 2 were left. If that makes sense... If it doesn't i apologize.

C how the bottom of my stock looks naked
Thank you very much. I'm still hesitant to remove anything, but I see everyone else doing this and it makes sense like you said " u want all energy 2 go 2 the top of plants"

I'll post pics when I do it. Is there a good time to do this? In the morning? Right after or before watering? I'm on a 20 on 4 off schedule

I trim and thin as I see fit. Never really payed attention to the time I did it. I just did it when the mood struck.

I take out sucker branches, if there isn't 3-4 nodes of bud at the top, it gets removed. However, if the leaf is still there at the base where the branch meets the main stem or main part of the branch, I leave the leaf on. I've been through this to many times.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm really stoked on this project and also the wealth of information you guys share with each other.

I haven't been on a forum (posting that is) since OG got shutdown right around the time this went down: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Pipe_Dreams

I am going to take before pics right now (the Afghan Kush Ryder needs to be transplanted out of the red solo cup ASAP). If anyone has any suggestions - Please feel free to let me know what to do because honestly reading what you guys have said helps a lot, but if I could just see it or better yet have someone show me I would have it down so easy. I think I'm just over thinking it and it's causing me to hesitate and that's not what you want to be like when pruning.

The two Headband @ 30 days veg are unknown genetics. I do know they are from Washington (West coast USA). They also told me the headband needs a lot of dark during flowering. I was told several times to have them in 9 hours light for flowering??? Should I listen to this advice?

The Afghan Kush Ryder is a feminized auto and the Critical Kush and Cotton Candy are both feminized photo's. All grown from seed in soil. They have been through a day or so of heat stress but I plan to keep that under control by extending the a/c vent in the closet with duct tubing along with an inline fan. Temporarily I can have the door to the closet cracked and have my air purifier blow into the room. It's reading 84f. 37% humidity

The AKR needs to be transplanted ASAP. The headband did the same thing when one was ready. I'll post after I'm done pruning, but I have no idea what I'm doing. I wish I would have read the mainlining thread a month ago. I don't know if I would have attempted it, but it is still possible with the Critical Kush and Cotton Candy since they are babies. I think the auto Aghan Kush isn't really suppose to me messed with, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: I've decided to wait until pruning to see if I can get anymore feedback. If not, pruning will be done sometime tomorrow and I will post pictures after. Definitely transplanting the AKR tonight though.

Your plants look really good, I hope they all become fat bottom gals

Don't prune unless you are a well seasoned veteran and understand the pro's and con's, if not keep it simple and just let the bitches grow

Thanks man! :weed:

Question: Does the sativa pheno looking Headband look like a male to anyone? I just sense male characteristics...?

Update:

Transplanted the AKR (not looking perfect) but I think she will def. feel much better in a bigger container with better soil. I still think I have one male Headband and one female Headband. Wondering if I should force sex so I can get it out.
The 2 little fem babies: Cotton Candy (delicious seeds) and Critical Kush (barneys farm) are looking good so far. Any comments, suggestions, etc. always appreciated. This is grow #2 but #1 was in 2005.

I apologize for the pictures. They show up correctly before I upload them. I need a new camera badly so hopefully will be able to get one soon. The auto AKR is showing pistils for sure.

As for pruning I have decided not to do any of that at this time.

Thanks everyone bongsmilie

What would you or anyone out there do at this point having the pruning experience down or even say for a beginner. I'm so tempted to try the mainline with the Cotton Candy and or Critical Kush....

Edit: I think the first thing I should probably do is get a ph tester for both soil and water... I did not do this on the first one.

They look good, you might think about watering slightly less as one of them looks to be slightly droopy which could easily be over watering, but all in all they look good and will continue to perk up if you keep the heat under control. generally you don't need to pH soil grows unless the pH is extremely off and you are having problems that aren't from other sources, as the soil will naturally buffer its own pH, especially if it has mycorrhizae in it (Although many people on here will disagree with me over the pH issue). I would advice against pruning too much, but I have recently done some defoliating on yellowing/dead leafs and the plant has responded quite well, so I'm not sure where I stand on it. Also remember that plants are like humans in the sense that every place you cut it is a potential site for infection, just something to keep in mind

Thanks for the input! I can't wait to get a tent in this closet, but unfortunately funds are pretty low at this time...
First step is going to be to extend the a/c with an inline fan so I can cool the 250w HPS and or the room some more. It's 86 right now lights on.
