well I see a problem with your setup.... it probably is contributing to your rot.... your res is clear. Duct tape that bitch up ASAP!!!!!! if no light can get in to the roots.... it will help keep the rot down. Ive never had it.... and NONE of my res are clear. or, maybe im just lucky.

Put the reservoir in a black plastic trash bag/rap bag around reservoir, or spray paint it with Kyrlon Fushion
black paint. Or get a uniseal fitting. Cut two holes in present reservoir below normal water line and do the same thing to another reservoir. Set initial resrvoir up on pedsetal so thar the other reservoir water level when almost full has a water line at the same level as initial reservoir. Run a couple pieces of PVC pipe from one reservoir to the other. You can use atotae trash can or whatever for your second reservoir. Just use a small aquariun powerhead pump to circulate water beween the tow resrvoirs.

Some dilute chlorine water would not hurt in the mean time, If you have chlorinated tap water using that as a flush for a day would help. Changing it a few times during that day would be even better.

Uniseals: http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/829/Uniseals/uniseal/0 They work or round, dished, curved or flat surfaces.

looks like a mag or cal def or some nute burn but its def one of them, try flushing with just water at least twice then maybe use some cal-mag
