I ruined my beautiful, green girls trying to kill bugs!

This year, I had the most beautiful plants I've ever had! Not a yellow leaf in sight at 2 1/2 months! I was so elated. Going out to the grow site was a pleasure, until yesterday.

Monday, I fertilized them for the first time (but, this didn't do it). They were put in Fox Farm fertilizer, which has nutrients in it, and then transplanted mid April in new soil, with new nutrients, so I didn't see a need to add anything. When I did, I only used 2 tspns vs 3, and fertilized 8 plants with the same amount I usually do 3-4, so I know they weren't fertilized.

Then, Tuesday, we sprayed for bugs as the leaves were being eaten, even though I saw very few bugs. I sprayed Camomile soap with neem oil. I would have sprayed it Monday, but the oil was solid from the cool air in the winter, so I had to put it in hot water for awhile... I've used this mixture before, so I don't know what happened, but when we went out there yesterday, I was almost in shock. The photos don't do it justice ( older Nikon...don't want to use the iPhone due to locations), but here they are. The plants are growing back, thank goodness, but if anyone knows why they did that this time, I'd sure like some opinions!

Oh, most of the leaves have affected veins, but some at the bottom are yellow with black spots? I forgot what that is.
thanks!

That does look like Neem oil. Recently sprayed my garden after seeing white lines made by leaf miners on two of my Basil pots. Most plants weathered it like nothing happened but the Balsam Camellia, BL Cosmos and the flowering Dwarf Sunflower didn't like it one bit, leaves are burnt just like yours and the flowering sunflower seems to have stalled.

Probably a more diluted mix if needed again.

Rough start but I think they will recover
Lesson learned?[/QUOT

looks like it may have been the neem oil....i guess lesson learned. Need to find another way to get the soap to stick!
Lesson learned. And, they're already recovering, so at least I didn't panic after I saw them up close. But, it sure was a shock to see the brown instead of green!
