Ok, so I've been told to add molasses in about the 3-4 wk of flowering. My question I've been asking to no avail is, Y? what exactly does the molasses do to the plant/buds? I have started adding it today, but I like to know why I'm doing something vs. doing it BC your supposed to... So if anyone could offer some help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks:leaf:

I've read that it helps fatten up the buds with the sugars it contains. I think it takes a couple of weeks for the soil to break them down for plant use. Also the molasses which I use has a few micronutrients that my cheap MG bloom just doesn't have.

then why not just add sugar...me personally in my years of growing have never heard of such a silly thing, but if i am wrong please let me know!Meaning someone has actually tried this and has proven to make buds "Fatter"!

It has micro nutes that sugar doesn't have, the reason that most people use it over other organic substances is because it is water soluable at any temp, unlike honey which is a bitch to mix into cold water. I've read that the sugars don't do much for the plant itself but provide plenty of food for the microbial organisms which in turn provide nutes for the plant.

you dont have to do it, it just adds more sugar for the plant to synthesize.
in return you may see bigger and fatter buds.

The difference between not using it and using is is small. If you add in all things that make your plant grow bigger it will be bigger, but just adding molasses will not double the size or anything, just a small increase. Don't expect poundage off 1 plant after some molasses, cuz it aint happening.

You can bet I expect a pound off my outdoor plants, but I shoot for 2, now indoor is a whole nother story. ;-)

as someone else pointed out, molasses is used more for food for the microbial organisms in the soil/water to do their thing to make nutes for the plant.
