I went to college last year. I had 2500 per semester in pell grant(dont have to pay back) and whatever was left over, I took out loans to pay for, both parent plus, and my own loans. I wasnt granted any scholarships I applied for, my grades werent exactly great in HS, 2.6 gpa. It was mostly laziness.
Now heres my problem, I took 2 summer classes(6 hrs), I had to take a loan out to be able to pay for them. The loan was 1700 dollars, which in the end I would have gotten about 800 dollars back in a change check. So I finish the first class,(took one each month) and then started on my second. It was at this time, that they decided to let me know that my loan didnt go thru, because my parents didnt accept it. I, on the other hand, physically went in and signed for it. Now, I know this is my fault for not reading allll the fine print, but they NEVER ONCE emailed me, contacted me, or emailed/called my parents to notify them that they needed to accept the loan in order for those 2 classes(roughly $1000) to be paid for. So what happens? I get dropped. Had to move back in with my parents. Now I have missed last semester, and I'm missing this semester, because they are holding my transcript to where I cant apply for any other college, until that is paid off.
What the fuck do I do? I feel so cheated....As a freshman in college, I'm not going to know the ins and outs of how financial aid works, thats why I spent a lot of time going to the fin aid office making sure everything was going smoothly, and they always told me it was, and they always had an attitude about it because I was there a lot.
I dont want to pay them back out of my own pocket...and I dont exactly want to take a loan to pay them back...but it seems my only option, problem is..I doubt any bank in this economy is going to throw money down on a failed college student.
I want/deserve a second chance. I miss the shit out of college...
Does anyone know of some great sites I could go to to apply/write essays for scholarships?
What would you do in my situation?
This is just fucked man....Just another way for them to get their money, thats all we are to them is money...but we need that diploma in order to get a well paying job...please help RIU, any input is welcome. I cant stand living at home anymore, as much as I love my family...its my time to go.
