oh for sure, it would be alot thicker all over, less thin areas, less streas spots. works for sure, they sell em everywere. just nothing that special, besides the fact that i could probly throw mine against a wall a few times and not notice anything different. but if you had the grade of borosilicate used by lampworkers and made 10mm thick bongs, you could fuckin drop that shit off your house, it wont break.
 
yea, the amount of glass it would take to make a smaller thicker piece would be the same price as a big, somewhat thinner piece. some would call it a ripoff for that small of a piece when you can get one a few mm thinner and alot bigger/nicer looking the same price. plus when it gets up to about 7mm thick glass its almost fuckin impossable to keep it even. idk that much about casting, but im perty sure the kind of borosilicate in lampworking doesnt work the same as the glass in casting, it is more unpredictable, its not a good molten glass, thats why soft glass and borosilicate is very different, im perty sure the kind they use in casting is more britle n e way. and borosilicate boils and traps bubbles easy...
 
Okay, I just got this today. It's not large but it weighs 4 1/4 lbs. Glass on glass, very tight, It was about 50 cheaper than any name brand ones I saw. Nicer looking too, for my money. The walls are about 1/4 inch thick. Hit's really hard but not too long; I'm fifty goddamit!

I just blew up the stamp in the glass near the downstem; it reads WRKD. Which is what I am now :/>

lol, sorry man, i was really kinda perty baked... just nevermind about that.

yea it was a trip just watchin the guy i got the torch from fix a rod with a boil/burn area in it, it was coooool. i cant wait till i can get into a few one on one setions.

i was thinking about buying a hurricane bong but it looks like there is a whole right below the bowl... does this affect the hit u get or does it help???? if anyone has hurricane glass please input on this
 
What's a company that's similar to hurricane but is better? Also people say buy a roor over hurricane.....do u guys agree?

the hole in the hurricane is the carb, the huricane is kindof a bubbler more than a bong, its just carbed. roor is great, illadelph is great, theres a cheaper brand around my parts called roar... if you can get anything get a roor, or an illadelph, i would go with illadelph personaly.

This is much too hard a decision for you buddy. Just go somewhere local and buy something cheap. If it's that hard to make a decision, you can't afford the bong.

They all break, or can be broken. It doesn't really matter how thick the glass is, it always breaks that one time you drop nice and awkward on the downstem, generally if it get's knocked over.

Of coarse cheapie bongs break way more easily, but I can keep 8 $50.00 bong's for a lot longer than I can keep 1 $400.00 bong.

I do currently smoke out of my ROOR (we call her Big Red for her red label) and I loved my PHX, and my old ROOR, and the many other bongs I've owned. My friend just broke his ROOR again, actually I now have 2 friends that have recently broken their ROOR's, all the same way.

Don't get something that's going to make you really upset if you break it. It ain't worth the anxiety while your smoking and/or hanging out with friends and all you can think is, motherfucker, please don't drop my bong.

Get something cheaper, and relax and have a toke.
 
If you get a hand blown bong then you inherited the blowers signature piece work.... ide totally go for a hand blown glass bong... or a wooden bong made out of bamboo or hemp

That was an insightful post and right on target. Is one bongs glass better than another? At double the price? Triple, etc.etc. ? It really depends on how much money you are willing to throw at your smoking device of choice. Of course there is always the incessant L.A.M.E. (look at me everybody) egos which crave the attention that a nice bong brings them. It's a bong...get over it already...:mrgreen: How much better can it be? :lol:
Of course then there are those who can easily afford top shelf and it's not about showing off.....some people collect stamps, others bongs :lol:

I've smoked from some mighty fine bongs and hookas and just about everything else and frankly one of the coolest smokes I ever had was from a large stone pipe.

If this is your first bong, spend less now and then when it breaks you can learn the lesson with a bit more of a smile.

agreed^^^ and hey if your careful you can make that one first cheap one last forever. i still have my first bong, its a simple, mall bought, cast pyrex bong. thick as fuck and great hits, ill never loose it. ive broken about 3 zongs in the last year tho, i like to sit in bed with my comp and smoke a few zongs, well they sit on theyre side so its nice to just lay it down next to me, well ill drop something like my jar or some shit like that and it will land in my lap and roll down to the bong... i guess im a slow learner, but hey all those bongs were 40$ from a wholesale book, so no biggy!
 
i recently bought a nice artistic headie pipe, it was between that or one of the roors or illadelphs, i figured why not, if im going to spend 250 on something why not a nice bong? well shit i could have got a 1 foot, 1.5 inch wide tube for 250... but fuck that... the shit i wanted was at least 400 up to 1000... i can speand a lot more time spacin out to my butiful pipe than i can suckin on a dick sized bong...
 
ive had my OG 24inch Blue Dot from VGA for over 2 years now best bong ever IMO like a ROOR but at a good price .. i dont think you can purchase this bong anymore i cant find them anywhere anyone else have one?

smoke stones are still around, they should just be at any local tobacco shop.

i dont buy shit like that from the internet.
