I tested my soil compost today with two different ph meter one digital and one meter they both read 6.8 to 7.0. I have been unknowingly aging this soil for 2 years and it had lots of mushrooms growing form it I'm not sure if that makes the soil naturally more alkaline. I tried mixing peat moss in to lower ph but it was still the same. The soil is also mixed with my compost such as leaves, banana peels, apples and veggies. Any recommendations? i want it between 5.5 and 6.5

Sounds like you have a nice natural soil. Keep it that way and never measure pH again. In exchange, you'll get the help of billions of microbes.

However, if you instead head for bottled nutes, then it's not a natural soil and you're on your own. No idea what you can expect. Microbe relationship is largely disrupted

That's so great! The plant + microbes set the pH where they want it.

Worm castings / worm compost is #1. Have you considered a small worm bin?

Any further your dick will fall off...! and how do you accurately measure the potential hydrogen of your soil ...measure the runoff? ..nope, in reality you can't and don't........ sure many noobies jerk off to this very subject ...and you will too, study some more especially the bit about the difference between DWC and Soil grows ..
once again western capitalist lead state education rules ....lol

A lil tough love from vostok..

Yes so I used a ph meter and according to it I had more hydroxide ions then hydrogen so it is more alkaline. The way the ph meter measures ph seems accurate to me I'm no mathematician but from what I read I dont see why you cant measure ph. I have trust in fritz haber!!! This subject makes me so horny XD

Why cant I accurately measure the ph of my soil?
The soil(potting mix) itself acts as a buffer between the roots of your plants and the nutes you have feed your plants
a halfway zone, attempting to measure this buffer is seen as crazy with soil growers, as it acts as above as a buffer
for this reason, this half way zone(unlike dwc guys) is forever changing, often with accurate ph testing, soil can change as much as 1.5 clicks just in 6 hours of the plant in the sun feeding, as the plant feeds, the plant changes its exacerbate to suit its feeding requirements, like you boofing down a burger fries and beer, you too change your excerbate(or digestive acid(sweat)) same with the plant but happens down deep at the root zone, ...bottomline is ..if you can grow mushrooms in a 2 year old mix ...you should be ok to grow canna in like 5-8 ph range is very tough other than when over fed

Um, horny?
And I thought I was wired a lil weird...
good for you though, usually takes me some time with my girl or at least some beer and porn first...
Vostok, is a lil abrasive, but he is right, probably 85% of us organic growers haven't checked PH in yrs, or at all.
I don't even own a PH tester.
Use your compost as 33% of your soil mix, then add another 33% aeration and then add another 33% of peat.
You will have no problems with PH.
Obviously add nutrients too but that's another can of worms there.
And speaking of... get some redworms and start a bin too.

Ok I understand now perfect analogy with the burger and fries thing too :).

My attempt at a joke with the jerking thing above lol. Yea I am pretty much following all your advice you gave me with the biochar, tree logs, peat everything else. I just added ewc, fish bone meal and a little azomite to my compost and it is now cooking in the sun. There is this guy on criagslist in ym area who has a worm farm maybe Ill hit him up for a worm bin.

ahha,I see the joke now...
Don't worry about chuck or vostok, they don't mean any harm, they just like to bust balls
Def get the wormbin going, it's a secret weapon and once you start using it you'll see the benefits.
It's sorta fun too..
If you are aging it in your compost pile, feather meal is a good one to have. Very slow release which is good. the fish bone meal and feather meal compliment each other well. Both last two grows or so, depending on the strains you use.

I wont I could see how all the frustration would build up seeing all these posts about ph in soil when ph is pointless lol.
If it weren't these two ball busters I would lack knowledge about gardening and even my own body.
Its funny actually I used to read these articles about people trying to raise their body's ph to alkaline cuse they thought that would get rid of illnesses and shit.
So I started buying this expensive high ph water and it never did really help with anything other than drain my wallet for spending 6 bucks a bottle.
After reading their posts I released some basic fuckin knowledge about my body: You just need to provide a healthy environment for your insides by eating a balanced diet just like in organic gardening If you supply a healthy environment you dont need all these overpriced supplements.

ahhhh yes... the ole "every ailment is caused by an improper ph" thing.
I think it was originally started by some quack scientologists...
L ron hubbard?
Or that other douche?
can't remember his name..
