Ok so i just got my new 250w sun system 2 mh/hps :-P,,, nd i already have it setup to a timer.. the only problem is im going back to visit my family 3hrs away (im in COLLEGE right now) so i wont be home for 2 1/2 days Would it be SAFE to leave it on unsupervised????

the light is in a closet nd i took everything flammable out,

I also have tempered glass(does this prevent fire?)

PLZ if u have any experience with this situation, or the sun system 2 plz post

Thnx:leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::fire:

You didn't give enough info to answer properly. But, water well before you go. If it's new and you don't know what you're doing yet, I'd be VEY careful. Heat buildup from the light is your biggest possible problem. My daughter is an R.A. in her dorm and they are instructed to go thru every room making sure lights are out, things are unplugged, etc.- I hope you're not in a dorm..........

No000 im in a House 2nd floor with 2 other roomates, the 1st floor has 3 other kids.. yea heat buildup is my biggest concern, i dont have a fan on it but i heard a 250w hid doesnt need one and it has space around it.....

i have one another question though earlier i turned it on nd the light didnt come on nd the ballast was louder than usual is this normal? it happened the second time i turned it on the other 3 times were normal.

I do not geoperdize the life of my room mates for my passion(or couple of ounces of weed.It is dangerous for some reasons the first being a new setup that already is making noise second you have no fan,no smoke detector ,no fire ditinguisher and even no presence if anything happens.

keep it safe and think long term ,it is your passion and not job.

Fire if happens does not have a clue about the border of your closet and spreads every where.

Enjoy your travel

You haven't said what stage your plants are at, but if you just got the system I am guessing they're new plants too. In any case, I don't believe that 2 or 3 days without much light is going to kill your plants. Especially if you are able to leave the door open etc and provide some light during the day. I'd leave the lights off while you're gone. Sounds like you'd just be worrying about it the whole time anyway lol.

You're good to go bud, just make sure you have it plugged into something that's grounded. A surge protector/power splitter would be your best bet since a lot of them have a fail safe switch if something goes wrong. I bought mine for 3.97 at Walmart so if you've got even a couple dollars i suggest getting it before you leave if you don't use one already.
