I need advice, I'm leaving so close to harvest!

I have a plant that will be done very soon. Mostly cloudy trich's now, could be a week. the only problem is I leave in two weeks and I'll be gone 5 days. If I harvest before then but too close to when I'll be gone, I wont be here for 5 days while the bud either sits in curing jars or hangs to dry. I run the risk of either overdrying or mold! Should I harvest early and try to get a week of cure/burping in so I can be sure it's dry enough before I leave, or wait, and maybe let it go a week long and harvest when I get back?

smartass comments aside, no I can't NOT GO AWAY. No my bud is NOT more important. I'm looking for real suggestions, from reasonable minds. Isn't that what this forum is about?

I usually harvest when they are all cloudy and at the fist sign of amber. Only because I'm more into the cerebral high. Amber trichs have a tendency to make me sleepy. I personally would flush if you haven't already and harvest. Do you have anyone that knows about your op that would be willing to help with the cure. Throw them a nug or two. And you don't necessarily have to use the mason jar method. what about cardboard box/brown paper bag. Curing is VERY important but there is more than one way to do it successfully.

we love pictures.

My only advice is that underdrying and getting mold is a problem that it irreversible, overdrying is not. If your bud gets too dry there are many way to get it back to optimal moisture, like putting a damp paper towel in with it while curing.

I agree, chop them and let them dry for the 5 days, I did that last time I went away, it wasn't too overdry, but if it is you can just throw a fresh leaf in a jar wile curing.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I am just assuming, based on how things have progressed thus far, that they will be ready RIGHT before I leave. So I can chop, hang and they ought to be good by the time I get back! I have an 18 gallon Rubbermaid with a 78 cfm PC fan mounted at the top to exhaust air out. I drill about 12 dime sized holes along the bottom and ran some string through to hang the bud. With the lid on, would this get too dry in 5 days? should I not use the fan, but hang the buds and leave the top of the rubbermaid off?

If maybe they are ready in the next couple days and I can monitor them while hanging, I could cure in brown paper bags while I'm gone, too, right? They wouldn't get moldy that way and wouldn't overdry?

Yeah, like flow said; over-drying is better than mold. I wouldn't use the fan but don't completely seal them up for five days. Put your lid on halfway or something.

just let em hang no ventalation should take 7 to 10 days to dry that way
No ventilation?? you trying to get him to grow mold......Wait till the day before you leave or night if you can, then hang them in a spot where they get VENTILATION,and temps around 68-74f .if you hang them like that and then come back in 5 days they should be fine and probably ready for jars or close to it:weed:

I had the same problem on my first harvest. I was at week 9 leaving for 2 weeks. Left them after flushing on a auto pure water system. Then 5 days before I got back, I had it shut off, got home, hung for 4 days, jar for week and a half, ready as can be.

I speak from 35 yrs experence buds will dry evn in high humidity in unventalated spaces with out molding. mold only occurs if the buds are paced in a sealed enviroment and not dryed properly, for years i dryed buds on a widow sceen in unventaled closets and never had a mold problem in 80 to 90% humidity, as long as the buds are spread out and not touching they will dry out .
