i need a ph tester

im into my third week of my first grow and i definately have ph problems burnt, yellow leaves etc. what kind of tester should i go with i want to go digital but dont know what to get and word of mouth is always best and what else will i need to balance this thing out

I was checking out some ph testers myself today but the prices are soooo different. they range from a mild 35$ pocket tester for water to others that cost 500$ but can check temperature, salinity and mv of liquids, viscous and semi soluble solids! whata bout you, what did you find?
 
does anyone know if an aquarium ph tester would work for testing runoff? they are only about 6 dollars at walmart..
 
You can use a water meter on runoff, Hanna is good, on ebey for $30-35. or you can get a meter for soil about which I know nothing. Soil growers I know measure runoff.

I dont see why not it is only going to test water. Which is what it would do for an aquarium. But you will need to bring the ph up or down possibly depending on what you find from runoff.

If you have a hydro shop nearby I would start there. If not look up hydro shops online and by a decent one for around $50-$80. A digital pH tester is one of the smartest purchases you can make.

go to a pet store and get one

these are the ph drops? that's what i use, and they can work very well
test your water going in and out, cheap ph meters are notorious for inaccurate results

many will try to cheap out and get one of the bad ones though

I bought one of those $25 soil test meters. Ha!!! That was a piece of crap!
