Its called a false flag operation, you do some despicable deed and leave evidence of someone else doing it, like the Reichstag or Building 7. Probably the most effective way to not only get what you want, but also get rid of an enemy while your at it. I don't think I could let it go. Not having anything to do with the money, but just that you trusted him enough to let him into your house and chill with him, and he still shit on you like that. I wouldn't go the violent route if I didn't have to, but revenge in some form would be coming his way. People like him will keep doing the same things over and over again to anyone who they think they can get away with it, until someone stops them. Decide if you want to be that person or not, and then proceed from there.

You should go to the police. Otherwise you're involving yourself in criminal activity and most likely you'll be going to jail instead. That's how these things usually end up.
