I just broke a stalk right in half accidentally. Is there anything I can do to save it? It is 4' tall and broken at about the 1' level mark.

Should I take clones or if i set it in water will it continue to grow? I immediately stuck it in water right away ... is this going to work or not? Someone help me with this pls if you know the answer.

You mean you broke it off completely? Because if that's what you did, you should be able to take the broken piece and clone it. I doubt very much it will survive if you just stick in water

take all the clones you can

Oh, wait a minute - 4 feet tall, not 4 inches? Yeah, definitely start cutting clones. You can't save a 3-foot section of a mature plant.

just take the big broke off piece and put in some cloning solution
as long as its in water it should live
i had a clone that didn't grow any roots but lived in the water for a good 3 weeks before i trashed it

Thanks to everybody. Let me get to work then I'll come back and rep all of you. Thanks!
You'd better, or we'll all delete our replies, damn it! :cuss:

Just kidding. Seriously, good luck man. It's a tough break, but hopefully you'll be able to salvage some decent clones out of it.

DUDE, I had a nightmare that I accidentally broke all my plants in half just last night come to thing of it. But for some reason I didn't clone, i just stomped up and down on them until they became a green pile of gak. . . really weirded me out .

Oh well I got 20 nice clones from it. Now if I could just learn how to clone successfully, I'd be ok. So many different ways I've seen to clone. Last time I tried was 1/25. Bullshit.:cuss:

do u use cloning gel or rooting hormone? humidity dome? clean scissors or razor,? heating mat?

I have a humidity dome, heating mat, florescent lights, and rootone powder. I don't have any more gel but it is ok because it seems to have rotted out many of the last clones.

What I would like to know is do I keep the vents open at the top of the dome?

Do I keep the lighting on 24/0 or 18/6 ?

Direct lighting so photosythesis works or indirect lighting so the roots will search for water and not grow by the lights.

Some say to not mist them and some say to mist them since misting them is keeping them alive by water intake from the leaves rather than the roots searching for water.

So many freaking questions it is aggrivating really. Once I find out how it will give me at least a 75% success rate...I'll be happy.

If anybody has the answers to these questions I'd sure be grateful. Only if you KNOW it works please.

i use clonex root gel. i also use these trays that come wit 72 jiffy pellets.

i soak the pellets wit hot water.
then i cut my clones wit scissors. some use scalpels or razors scissors work best for me.
i dip the cut end into the gel. then stick it in pellet. repeat this 72 times.
then i put the lid on wit the holes closed for the first day. cracking it open a lil bit each day so by two weeks they r fully open.
then i just put the tray on the heat mat and spray once a day under flourescent lighting that is on 24 hrs
i also use this clonex rootin hormone that you mix wit water and once the pellets dry out i water wit it.
u have to let them get dry not to dry but the roots have to look for water.

What kind of success rate do you have with that?

I cut them this time under water, cut the leaves in half, left like 3 braches at the top total, put some powder in the holes first and then after cutting the bottoms at a 45 degree angle under water rolled them quicky in the power to cover maybe 1/2 inch of the bottom and stuck them in the things I have here which are like sponges but are black like dirt. Last time I used rockwool and I hate that stuff to be honest.

The guy at the hydro store told me he used these sponge things and had better success with them. They come in a ziplock bag and are barely moist. Thanks for the info. I already rep you or I'd do it again. Let's hope this works out this time or I'm gonna :fire: go postal!! Not a big deal. It is only some Jamaican purple weed that smells wayyyyyyyy stinky and only in veg. :wall:

i grow in hydro, i just cut at 45 w a razor blade and place in wtr cup, trim off all but upper two sets of leaves, cut leaves in half to lower transpiration, dip in clonex gel, put in my EZ cloner w h20 PH=5.5, spray w/ water first 5 days and water w jumpstart second five days, 10 days and voila, I have rooted clones... obviously no so easy since you grow in soil i assume from the pics...

if its broke and still hanging, you can use masking tape to put it back together....promise you it works!! almost like suercropping but SEVERE supercropping...I done this many times.. good luck and happy growing :)by the way, it takes up to two weeks to repair itself, depends on conditions

Is that so? I wish I knew that before I cut all of my clones off. I would have much rather kept the plant than take a chance with the clones to be honest, but my man says his clone success rate is pretty good so we'll see what happens. I'm going to grow one sometime and break it and tape it just to see if it works.
