that was lesson 2 with the instructor back in Feb.
i haven't made much cane though. i have a bunch of Momkas colors that are pretty much the same thing once you twist them. though i have some combos in mind that i'm going throw together one of these days.

Looks great!! Why don't they have slides like that in the head shops around here? That looks at least twice a thick as the last 3 I broke.

How long do those fish take? Are you going to try any other sculptures? Like a dragon maybe? Keep up the good work.

ahh wuz wondering how u stepped it up.. got a badass instructor or u just pulling my leg? i wouldnt have ever gotten to were im at with sectional inside out shit, if i hadnt been taught. when i wuz first starting i used to take glass shears to my points and split them to do inside out work ..was a real pain..till my bro showed me how to flair once side like a flower..
im gonna build in a work bench this winter and get shit mounted up. im still gonna be runnign those huge tansk that sound like a missle went off wen they release there pressure. I have probably 100 pipes in material , tubing , fuming , and color rod sitting around. and some chunks of Dicrilic , and frit. just gotta hook it up! ive been thinking of using a horticulture inline fan for exhaust wutcha think?

i took a few hours of basic lessons when i first started. she taught me how to punty up, apply colors, and marble making. 2 saturdays for a few hours each day. i wouldn't really even call it "lessons". more like an "introduction". most everything else is self taught thru youtube, forums and glass magazines.

i use an old hood and exhaust fan from my grow room for my venting.

heat the WHOLE point slowly and evenly, then spread it wide-open. :hump: IMG_3228.jpg

yes thats essentially the flare i switched over too, a few years back. like i said tho for a full 6 months it was taking me like 2hours per inside out piece, cause i wuz taking glass shears sold from glasscraft, and slicing the points st8 down the middle, and opening them and then seaming it back together. glad to here horticulture fans can do the trick. that way i dont have to hack any more holes.
Well in all honesty im suprised at ur skill, being u got some real basic, how to turn ur flame up and down for wut application and how to wrap color , make punties etc and thats it. to teach yourself inside out flares, that some shit. looks like ur pieces still are a little bit bumpy like the color isnt molding flat with ur tubing, but shit is looking like uve done it a lot longer than u have.

i think i may have asked u this be 4..have u stetched any color rod out real thin with a punty yet, and used it to pencil images or lettering on ur pieces yet. i find this easier on the exterior, cause if u do it inside of ur flare it has to be backwards and upside down, which i fail at with style points. I love that shit, i used to make all sorts of pipes that said I love POT. or anything custom for the person. usually write it in the bowl, and leave the color wrap just to the stem and mouthpiece, then i drag my clear rod over the color but not the bowl , and when u melt everything down adn then blow the bowl out it enlarges. sure u know this ..jsut sayn how cool the look is on some1's face when they get a custom engraved personal piece.
