i Got Hugged at Work Today

We had a new temp worker start today and on first break i found out that he has mouth diarrhea. Not unusual imo since i'm a rather quiet person usually. He talked about way too much personal stuff also imo.

At lunch, he talked even more and told his life story. i even walked away to make a phone call and he followed until i turned and postured. THEN he asked me who my favorite football team was and i told him the Raiders. His response was "You LOOK like a Raider fan." i said WHAT? He said i look "tough" lol. i walked back inside the warehouse (we were outside).

On last break, i was sitting on a planter curb in the parking lot smoking a cig with my head laying on my crossed arms on my knees. He asked if i was sad and hugged me! Not a full-on hug but a one-armed hug from the side. i told him i wasn't sad but i could tell him who WOULD be sad if that ever happened again.

i notified my manager in a joking manner and told him i didn't think this guy was gonna work out lol.

MY biggest question is, What the hell is wrong with people? Who the hell thinks it's ok to hug someone, regardless of sex, on the day you start working with them or even in public for that matter after you've just met them?

Lucky this didn't go down at the local gas station.

It's a possibility i guess. i, as an ex cop, thought that he was on a bender. Bloodshot eyes, nonstop talking, nonstop rubbing his nose, nonstop touching EVERYTHING, dilated pupils.

i still say he was.
Well the thing that made me think it was him not being able to read social cues like the phone. They are unable to read body language and then are surprised when people respond angrily.

And see, that's an issue with ME because i am VERY in tune to social cues/body language. If i turn square to someone and puff my chest a little while clinching my fists, i should not have to say a word to be left alone imo.

awww... budlover's first bromance rejection. Our baby is growing up. ::sniffle::
Not the first unfortunately

It's actually happened all my life. MOST times, the dude advancing on me respects my viewpoint on the matter. Every once in awhile, someone gets too persistent for my taste. And by persistent, i mean continuing to try flirting after i've clearly stated that i don't swing that way.

I think this is a good thing. People need to show more compassion to strangers, there isn't enough of random kindness in the world these days.

Random kindness and invading my personal space are two vastly different things imo.

If i hugged a dude at the store, i'd fully expect to get punched.

You're preaching to the choir, brother.

Sorry for the confusion. I wasn't saying it was a sexual advance. A bromance is a straight thing. Totally platonic. No homo. :p

(unless alcohol is involved but that's a whooole different story)
