It really depends on how much the plant is asking for. For me, I always judge by the weight. I just got used to how fully saturated and dry enough to need water feel. You'll get used to it.
I've seen others mention this method a couple different times. Maybe it's one of those things you learn after a couple grows. Idk. I'll try and master it.

I was meaning to bring this up when you mentioned it in your last reply.o_O

Early week update: Day 25 since planted

A little yellowing that I'll assume is due to the weak amount of light they were given.

Will be dropping lights closer each morning to see if this fixes our problem.

Haven't seen any major growth(if any)but I'll check back Friday for a better comparison.

RH dropped as low as 38 in these past couple days so added the humidifier back to the tent. Running it on the lowest settings.



Temps are getting as high as 85°F. Will purchase a better exhaust fan to help combat the temps.

85F is acceptable with LED's.

You're not even close to overdoing it on light intensity for that size of grow space.

38%RH is low for the 85F temp. When temps are warm and RH is low, the plants transpire more (pull water up through the plant from the roots to evaporate from the leaves). So they pull up more water and the nutrients that are in the water, which can have a negative effect if the RH gets too low when the temps are too warm, and the plants get nutrient toxicity. I see what looks like a tiny bit of Nitrogen clawing on some of the leaves. Could be partially due to the temp/RH. Maybe the soil is a little high in nutrients. Maybe I'm imaging things tooo_O

Not sure if you've seen a VPD chart:

That gives you an ideal range to be in. You are currently in the bottom left region. Ideally you would cool down a little, and add a little RH. I try to run to the drier side of things. I think drier warmer environments help to control PM and mold (but maybe I'm making that up too). I'm not a botanist.

Obviously I didn't spend enough time studying temperature/humidity and their role in growing cannabis before I got things started, but here I am.

I'll make adjustments. Hopefully no permanent damage has been done to the girls.

My first few grows were not nearly as well put together as you're doing.

The chart was from the Scynce grow light website. I can't attest to the accuracy. If you really want to go deep on it, you can probably search the web for academic journal articles on horticulture. I'm sure there have been well documented studies on that.

I won't lie, I did believe this would be going much smoother than it is considering it's only week 3 or so for the plants.

I'll see what's out there. Won't hurt.

Those temps are good for seedlings. Photosynthesis is at its greatest at 30celceius. RH needs to go up around ~70%. How is your venting/exhaust/intake setup?. Im curious as to why all the PM stuff? I mean, I know why. Clean rooms and clean seeds=no bugs. Besides, fungi can become your greatest PM. Looking like a sweet room coming though:)

I now have the humidifier back in the tent, currently running it at mid speed.

Here is the setup I currently have:
•An 8" carbon filter(inside the tent)
•An 8" booster fan for exhaust ( :wall: ) on top of the
tent
•Warm air is being exhausted into an exhaust fan/vent in the room using ducting.
•Room doesn't have windows for fresh air, just the door leading into the hall and a small vent register in the ceiling.
•As for tent intake I just have 3 or four flaps open on the tent with a 5" fan blowing air from outside of one of the openings.

My setup isn't how I would like it, but it's all I could come up with.

Honestly I just grabbed a few items just in case of a bug problem. I've heard people complain about gnats already being inside their ffof. Thought I was taking the initiative and getting ahead of them. Does it seem like too much or something?

Yeah I've just recently learned lowering exhaust fan speed can help bring up the RH(as well as the temps I believe).
It could just be the demographic, it's still winter in chicago so I really shouldn't be worrying about bugs atm.
Just a 12" hurricane fan on rotate, and a couple more smaller fans I haven't set up yet.

Oh. I went back and you do have more fans? And what will you be using for Co2?
It's been so many conflicting views on Co2 I really didn't know what to believe. I have a friend who uses the refill tanks and he swears by it. I think I'll try some kind of diy Co2 for my first grow. I think I seen something with sugar and yeast.

I should be more clear when I said 'fan speed'- I was talking exhaust/coming in the carbon filter up top and out..

It's only a booster fan rated at 428 cfm. I've been told countless times booster fans aren't made to run along any filters, but I bought this nearly 3 months before my first grow and didn't know any better.

When tent temps started to hit 88-91°F I set the varaible speed to max settings.


like I mentioned early in the thread I do have a 6" inline fan. I'll assume that would mean I would need 6" ducting and 6" filter to go along with it, or if I can use the 8" filter with it.

In my opinion the air being removed felt sufficient during the installation. But I wouldn't know for sure.

Just reading personal experiences across the internet about co2. It's usually one side saying it works wonders and the other side saying it's useless. What form of co2 do you use in your setup?

Get everything else about your grow dialed in before adding the complexity and cost of CO2. You need everything dialed in plus more light to be able to realize a benefit from supplemental CO2. As long as you have the air from the tent exchanging and circulating, you don't need to worry about it for now.

Right. I've also heard it isn't much effective in grow areas that aren't sealed.

@HIGH 4 LIFE I'll definitely be looking further into it and see where where it could help me out in the future.
Although it 8snt the same, and may not even work I still want to try that diy as well.:lol:

A very simple trick to naturally raise co2 levels is adding a 1in layer of wood chips, preferably oak or an oak blend. I picked up a bag of 40lb oak wood chips for 2dollars. Effective to start and each plant basically has it own co2 emissions(lol) coming right below and heck. Wood chips create a natural buffer for your medium. Slow release. Water becomes less dense too therefore better on plants roots in many ways.

First couple seeds sprouted between 3-5 days, so technically those are about three weeks old give or take.

Comparing my girls to other growers with girls the same age on growdiaries.com, and it seems like a very big difference between mine and theirs. I definitely feel I stunted their growth.

Each plant has it's own problem it's dealing with in the tent.Sad. :sad::sad::sad:
