Another scary hi-tech advancement. What will I have to do wear aluminum foil underwear, that wouldn't be too sexy.

Researchers at a Texas university have designed a chip that could give smartphones the long-envied ability of comic book her Superman to see through walls, clothes or other objects.

A team at University of Texas at Dallas tuned a small, inexpensive microchip to discern a "terahertz" band of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The design works with chips made using Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor technology behind processors commonly found in personal computers, smartphones, televisions and videogame consoles.

"CMOS is affordable and can be used to make lots of chips," electrical engineering professor Kenneth O said in a statement Friday.

"The combination of CMOS and terahertz means you could put this chip and a transmitter on the back of a cell phone, turning it into a device carried in your pocket that can see through objects."

i personally find aluminum foil underwear to be totally hot

I found one pix of aluminum underwear and it wasn't so, so attractive. The undies do go well with the matching hat.

This is neat and scary..cuz guess who will get it next? Cops...assuage the privacy issues...yeah right...Well it will make searches easier and faster, and possibly less uncomfortable...instead of "squat and cough!" it will be "just stand really still right there!"

CMOS, LoL, that's something we've been using since the 8088 computers came out! And, "terahurtz" -- kinda' like 3G/4G? Not new technology, just a novel application -- range limited, of course. And, just carry something with a radio signature (like your own cell phone) to generate enough radioactive discharge to block the signal. I guess you could just be in proximity to wifi networks that would generate multi-frequency radio waves that jam up a device like that...

Sorry, I've had a couple sangrias, don't mean to sound like an asshole, just a bit sarcastic, with a hint of knowledge about the subject (seriously, just a hint, I know about CMOS chips, and radio frequencies, but not so much about hacked combos of the two) ... ;-)

I believe body mods are art ... Ask, I'll show you my piercings, but, don't get upset about the graphic nature of the pics, LoL.

I have yet to see someone with a private piercing who cared to keep it private. See above post by minnesmoker for visual aid.

I see what you did there (figuratively!) LoL, nicely played on the wording... should have left off the "above post by" ... and it would have been double entendre perfection!

... Forgotten!!!

Was not an intended as an insult against you dear. Just my personal experience. I literally have never met a person that has a piercing in a "private" area that didn't offer to show it to people. If you wanna show your piercing off and you find someone who wants to see it, more power to you. I'm entirely too high to be pissed off at anything right now.

Sangria is what I blame. LoL, and, I was just joking with you, the internet is a horrible purveyor of both jest and sarcasm... I actually haven't shown mine off in about 12 years. LoL, I'll mention it, but won't just show it off any more (the fiance has a couple pics she'll show ya', if you persist, LoL.)

No no, no thank you. Private piercings on anyone, male or female, give me nightmares about terrible torture methods and such. I eat before bed, so. That doesn't help either.
