if the light is fluorescent first thing to do is vent the area with fresh air, since they contain mercury vapor. if it is HID light, and you need to get the base out of the socket, cut a potato in half, then stick the cut part of one half on the base, shoving it into the broken glass, then twist it off carefully, the base will come out of the socket as you turn the potato.

yea its also a pain to get all the small pieces of glass out afterwords, I like the potato idea more

what kind of bulb are you using? if its hps make sure to use a rag to wipe it off before juicing it up!
