Afraid I don't know much about fuses - my house was almost fully rewired to use breakers and I tear-out and rewire anything that's knob and tube when I get to it. The wiring *shouldn't* have gone bad (that's the point of fuses) - if it has it means that either you had a damaged wire somewhere or you had in a higher fuse than the wire was rated for. The best way to wire grow lights is to put in new breakers for them and run them on their own lines, either 20 or 30 amp depending on what your doing and whether you give a shit about building codes. If you are running lights on a standard timer, it's generally better to use a relay - otherwise the timers tend to wear out / miss flips, plus you need a lot more timers.

I had a similar problem. What I did was:

Turn of all switches
Remove all plugs from the sockets
One by one put each plug back in and turn on the switch.

From there you should be able to work out the problem if its wireing, Which I do think is the problem.

if you have what I think you do,you may have another blown fuse,if you have the old style screw in fuses there will be most likely 4 fuses in a row on the bottom of the box,if you do there are fuses above them you should see a small handle,on a square plastic looking thing there will be 2 of them side by side, pull it out and there will be 2 more fuses in each one 4 total check the fuses to see if any are blown,if there is I would change them all because there most likely old and may blow anyway, hope this helps you out,by the way if the fuses are good you might want to call in an electrician

First what country are you in. Second are they fuses or breakers. Fuses blow and can't be reused, breakers have a toggle on them like a light switch. If fuse replace with same one and plug the 400 into a different plug. The fuse did what it was suppose to do save your place from burning. Sounds like older wiring so be careful. You need to add up what you have plunged in, most house circuit's are 15 amp so any more and you blow it. You 1000w uses 9.8 amps, 400w 3.9 = 13.7 amps you turn on anything bigger than a 60w light bulb and it will happen again. Find a different circuit for the 400 and don't plug in any hair dryers or micro waves.

this is what I have, its the bottom right breaker thats switced to off. theres 2 switches on one breaker. top switch works, bottom doesnt. we replaced it and still the same thing. we already tried unpluging everything and hitting the reset button on the ground wired gfi. doesnt stay pushed in. called an elactrician and said it could be a number of thing he would have to come check it out for 90 bucks.. looking to see if theres a diy fix before forking out the 90..

So when you switch the beaker back to on does is just come right back or does it stay on for a bit? Do you have a meter?

If you have never worked with electricity this is not the time to start learning, pay the 90$ and you will sleep better at night. I think the breaker is bad but I don't want to walk you through it. Don't you know someone who knows an electrician? Get them to drop by after work and pay cash.

I've had a GFI plug go bad and everything past the GFI won't work also. btw it was caused by overloading that GFI. hope that helps.
