Not asking a question just thought I would publicly display my failure...
Purchased 4 1000 watt hps and 2 600 watt mh.
Ran 6/3 bx cable from an 50 amp 8000 watt auto pilot light timer back to my panel.
Then I learned even though the service is 200 amps my breaker is 100. Now I need a permit for the city to shut down i need to rewire my whole house into a new panel and get it inspected....

Is 8000w the max capability of the timer? Figuring out just the lights they would pull approx 44 amps.

What's the issue? Just get a 200 amp box put in and then wire up everything for the grow once the box has been inspected. If asked why just explain you would like to have the added benefit of future expansion.

The issue is that I have everything set up and ready to go two tents and a cold cellar with 8 mother plants. Now I have to wait 6 weeks for the utility company to come shut down the power. Then I have to run a larger wire from the service to the panel. Then I have take out the old and instal the new. Have an inspector check it then the utility comes back to turn it on. It cannot be done in a single day as the schedual is impossible. Theres snow outside and it will be 3 days no power

Yeah 8000 watts is the max I'm running 5000 watts at 240 volts. The Amps should be cut in half from 120. Either way new panel is key

I read wrong so my math was off, those must be huge tents...lol. You're running all of them at once?

So are you going to get it done? Or just make do with what you have? Your house must be on the smaller side most homes at least the ones I’ve seen all have 200amp boxes. Well hopefully you get your setup how you want it.

I have no clue where you live but if I wanted to change my service I would just pull the meter

It's a 2000 square foot house. I dont know if your from the states but your electric code is higher then here in toronto. And I'm definitely going to upgrade the panel. 2000 square feet is small but not for toronto.

I live in Toronto and we can shut the water off to our homes but the electrical service outside that feeds my panel must be shutdown by the utility company. Then I can change the panel, get it inspected then get the utility company to turn it back on.

Yah I’m from the states. Not 100% on the code requirements but def only see 200amp service. Either way good luck!

The service depends more on the age of the house. Mine is 1100 square feet made in the 80's and has a 100 amp service in Nor Cal. There are way too few circuits for the way we use power now.
