Ive found that nothing beats reading your plants. You can dial in to recommend levels all you want some just dont like it. Our Amnesia led vegg was the most finicky shit ever, no more than 10000 lux or there would be loud complaining. Transition into flower abd they could do 60000-70000.
But there was never anything like vegging the way people describe here (20000-30000lx).
Great advice.

Yeah i saw. Point i was making is that some plants just wont do what theyre supposed to do. Especially in vegg ive felt like they many times wont man up and are only happy below 100-150ppfd. When they should be able to do atlest twice this
Yeah thats very true :). ( I didn't intend that link for you, assumed you knew) When I used the "gas lantern" method, the finnicky ones did better under higher light intensities. Obviously gas lantern works out to a lower dli so you might as well just use lower intensity over a longer time. But the more light loving mothers also did better under high intensity + gas lantern than lowered intensity for 18hrs. Outdoors they have no problem, but they don't have to live under a clear blue sky getting maximum dli day after day.
Oh well that's enough of tangents and anecdotes

10 weeks flushed, 5 years cured, brah! Otherwise, all you'll taste is "nutez" and black ash. ;-)

I start the lights dimmed and around ~24" inches away, shooting for 10-15k lux depending on what they've been under recently. Then I slowly raise the wattage and/or the light as she grows so by the time she's a week or so into flower the light is at full power and around 18" away. Just gotta watch her for heat and/or light stress as you go and adjust daily from there.

QB grow update.
It has been just over two weeks since switching to the quantum LED.
Currently I show 712 PPFD, at 17" from the top of the canopy.
Plants have been topped and training to keep low and spread.

My old mother plant is starting to come out of it's funk.
One of it's clones is doing very good.
Here are a few more shots.

Ok so this afternoon I downloaded lux light meter for my tablet, and here are the readings, and the conversion based on HLG website

At 24" from the top of the canopy full power on driver, 46000 lux 712 ppfd
At 24" from the top of the canopy low power on driver, 16500 lux 255 ppfd
At 17" from the top of the canopy low power on driver 28600 lux 443 ppfd

These readings were taken in the center of the cabinet, and at the level of the top most leaves.
At the edges of the cabinet the readings were less, but i want to set the height for the center.

I decided to keep the qb at 17" and low power.
I still want to get a "kill a watt" and measure the actual wattage from the outlet.

We are on our way.:weed::hump:
Sounds about right.
I run my panels at 20", half power during veg and full power for flower.

4 weeks veg since switching to my QB.
Both same strain (northern lights), different colors?
They seem healthy so not to worried.
Currently keeping temps around 75-80°.
Starting to train into scrog.
Not sure yet when I'll flip, I'm guessing it will be another week or so.







Notice how one is lighter than the other?

the left one looks a little sad to me actually, maybe a bit too much water last time? also looking like it needs a little less nitrogen than the one on the right. Definitely headed towards N toxicity there. The one on the right looks to be about perfect.

I'll back off on any nutes for the one on the left.
One on the right side is an older mother, so I think she can keep using the nutes.

Since this is my first grow with an LED QB, I am unsure what to look for.
These pictures seem a lot different than what I am used to with CFL.

Do these look OK?
The yellow patches on the leaves are worry some.
I bought a "kill a watt" today and checked my wattage.
The QB was drawing 120 watts, in my 2x3 cabinet that means 20 watts per sq ft.
I have read that you should shoot for 30 to 50 watts per sq ft.
I bumped it up to 180 watts, and also raised the board to 16 " from the canopy. (Only raised it 2 inches).





Do these seem ok?
My temps are around 75°f
They seem to be growing great filling my SCROG.
Seems that I didn't see this yellowing with CFL.

For the QB's you want to stay around 30 to 35 watts per square foot. 50w/sq.ft. of qb's will melt your plants lol

Overall she looks pretty good but it does seem like you have a little something going on there. Looks like maybe sulfur or magnesium deficiency to me. I know the QB's tend to drive the plants to need extra magnesium but that just looks a little different than what I'm personally used to seeing when plants are needing more mag.

maybe someone else can chime in that has personally seen this.

Epson salts foliar should have that worked out, along with a little more heat, try to increase to 81-84, more intensity more heat needed, for proper transpiration.

Looks just like a mag deficiency to me. As others have said, add some Epsom to your water and get the temps over 80°F.

What ratio should I use for the foliar spray?
How soon will I see results?
I'll increase heat a bit as well.

am still into my personal PPFD adventure, so i have no absloute values.
so far, ill also veg them under quite low ppfd and do better with it.
300ppfd is pretty much max i go in veg.
below 200 i get some unwanted stretch.

in flower i slowly went up to 700 now and am simply not sure if thats the border atm.
ill post a pic of how they are 1h before light out in my thread.
to read your plant 3,2,1h before lights out is for sure the best and cheapest way.

regarding lux meters, 10week is right, that can drive you crazy if your meter give too low readings.
on top of the problem that it seems under some circunstances quite some people having problems with high ppfd values.

maybe try 2g per liter spray bottle., less then a half teaspoon.
results are quick to see, within 24h latest.

These plants are 20 days from 12/12 flip.






I am giving FF nutes every third watering.
These girls are taking 6 cups of water every other day.
