hey guys hows it goins, im new to this site been searching google and here got lots of information already, alright, well heres the deal.

my plants is about 5 weeks old now after the germination process, its about4 inch tall -11-13 leaves. im growing in a hydroponic kit i made myself, its DWC, i recently just moved the plant from soil to the hydro day before yesterday. instead of buying hydroponic nutrients, can i make my own? i have this mirical grow that's very high in nitrogen, its for grass, but its 35% N, could i mix that as the direction say 1tbs per gallon and use that as my hydroponic nutrients?
i was also told i could use Schultz liquid plant food plus, with micro nutrients., is this true? i don't want to kill my beloved plant, here are some picture of my plant, she was going very well in soil but as soon as i introduced her into new enviroment, she started turning yellow leave and the upper leaves tips started to brown. =\

Welcome,I will try to help you as much as I can.Are you not wanting to buy nuts?To find out if your mirclegrow would work you would need to enter the Guartened analysis into the nutrient calculator.I'm not saying it will work but this will tell you the N-P-K ratios in ppm and how many ml to mix per gallon to get those ratios. Then you will need an understanding of what NPK values you are targeting most go for 100-100-200.I would link you to the calculator but I'm on my phone and this makes it hard to look at multiple pages.I can say this you can't trust the lable for proper mixing ratios. It maybe posiable to use the mirclegrow and the Shultz but you would need to know how much to mix of each to get the desiered NPK ratios that would work.Even purpose bought hydro nuts labels are not to be trusted. To get to the target ratios it may take both products combined.

OK the calculator you used seems to have give you the total ppm of your entire bottle. Not what were after try this one.

http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/fourtwenty/articles/profiles.htm

Also please read the entire page.I'm going to Schultz website and try to see the guaranteed analysis for your food to show you an example.

OK for the Schultz All Purpose Liquid Plant Food Plus 4floz bottle 10-15-10

This what I got at 4ml per gallon.

Net Weight in grams 115
Liquid Volume in milliliters 118

Nitrogen 0.2 Nitrate ppm 3
nitrogen 1.6 as Ammonium (NH4) ppm 22
nitrogen 8.2 as Urea (NH2) ppm 114

Nitrogen Total (N) ppm139
Phosphorus (P) ppm91
Potassium (K) ppm115
Magnesium (Mg) ppm 0
Sulfur (S) ppm 0
Calcium (Ca) ppm 0
Iron (Fe) ppm 1.3882
Boron (B) ppm 0
Manganese (Mn) ppm 0.6941
Zinc (Zn) ppm0.6941
Molybdenum (Mo) ppm 0
Sodium (Na) ppm 0
Copper (Cu) ppm 0
Chlorine Cl ppm 0
Cobalt Co ppm 0
Silicon (Si) ppm 0
Selenium (Se) ppm 0

Ok... N-P-K is 139-91-115 this is what the plant sees per gallon,no Magnesium and no Calcium not good.So see if you get what I have here and we can go from their. As you can see it really doesn't have a very good array of micro nutrients.Unless the Miracle-Gro has some Mg and CA you will need to supplement those!:bigjoint:

I would do a bit more reading, esp in the hydo section.

Those nutes are not acceptable and will more than likely toast your plants.

Look for hydro nutes, those are for soil. Big difference.

Ok Our weight differance might be due to me using the weight off of 4floz bottle you may have used a 8floz.But were on the right track now.The target of 100-100-200-60 is not for seedlings under CFLs if we use Mel Franks 2weeks old seedling target of 84-67-187-50 this is more like where you need to be right now with seedlings under CFLs.You can try adjusting the ml per gallon untill you get close to these ratios but you still don't have any Mg or Ca.We can get Mg and Sulfer from Epsom salts but,I believe WetDog is right these nuts are not exceptable. You will never make it all the way through bloom that's a given at best shultz mixed right will keep your plants alive but with Defincys untill you come up with a better balance of nuts.
