=CO2+H2O... amirite?
A friend of mine is using a solution made up of peroxide & natural cane sugar to add to her recirc system. Anyone know what kinda magic this could work on her system? Feedback and pics are appreciated (also science!) :D

Magic root slime?

You'll first kill a lot of benneficial organisms on your roots. Then you'll use up peroxide oxidising some of the sugar to who the f*ck knows what (chemistry is not a very exact science), and then the rest of sthe sugar will feed whatever microorganisms left and allow them to reproduce like mad. I would not try that...

The sugar will feed whatever bacteria survive the h2o2. Not a good thing imo.

Never put sugar in your system. Use it to brew benifical microbe tea. Idea being while your multiplying bacteria the sugar is being consumed. You want to time things so that when your tea population peaks the sugar should be running out leaving hungry microbes to dump into your system ready to graze on any naughty bacteria in your system.

Using h2o2 and trying to feed bennies is like trying to run a sterile but still living reservoir. Contradictory.

I said it often isn't very exact in a sense that reactions (specially organics like this one involving sugar) are rarely in practice as simple as "add A and B and you get C". Often depending on the minor changes in the enviroment you get totally different products from the same stuff. With sugar and peroxide in a diluted solution with bunch of nutrients, you could get a lot of different stuff.

Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure it's conveyed. She went ahead with it. Said it hasn't shown any negative signs yet (she did mention the pH was much more stable). My guess is the addition of all the bicarbonates to the system. she did allow the sugar/peroxide tea to sit for quite sometime without introducing it to the nute solution. so my guess is that most of what's left is peroxide (which people run in their systems quite often, though it may wipe out some of the bennies) or sugar (which will feed the bennies that were in the nute solution) IDK, we'll see. Maybe she lucks out and has all the right shit in place. Or maybe she has to deal with a flush and about $10 nutes wasted.
