IMO, hydro is a more scientific approach, whereas soil is the common man's method.
As in all things, I believe you'd get out of either no more or less than you put into it.

I DONT KNOW MAYBE MORE BUT NOT BETTER QUALITY SOME ONE SAID SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING ON THE OTHER TREAD WHAT ARE CANNIBUS CUP WINNERS GROWN IN ....and its soil dont get me wrong i want to try all set ups just for the love of growing ...but you cant really mess up in soil in hydro you can quickly kill a crop buy hey if youre home chilling ang this is youre full time gig stay home and fuck with hydro .....me ill just water once a day and go along my day and if i need to go on vacation ill either ill just set up lower wattage lights and flood the crap out of them but the lights would just enough to keep the soil moist but it wont dry up or add those crystals that stay wet or something like that i heard

any system you choose you have to get to know it (and the strain you are growing) before it is hands off indoors.

having said that, i imagine hydro would take a little more getting used to if you were used to soil. But if you are starting to grow for the first time without experience in either - i'd say pick the one you want to use and stick with it. If you want to later - switch it up.

I grow hydro and what i like about it is very fast vegetative rates and i never have to worry about overwatering.

I think they have a hydro category at the cannabis cup but i don't know for sure.
