if you want to add or comment on this thread then please feel free.

someone asked me how i clone so i wanted a thread i could point them to.

this is my method and i have had 100% success but i have only cloned about 20 odd plants but here it is

Hunter’s Clone Method

You will need

Scissors or secateurs
Scalpel or razor blade
Rooting gel (clonex)
Flat bowl 75% full of water
Cleaning solutions (I use h2o2 surgical spirit and hand sanitizer.
I also use gloves
Small bowl or shot glass (I am using the little white tub)
Rock wool or root riot (I use root riot as its easier to work with you don’t need to soak them as they are already damp when you get them and they are pre nuted for the first week after you see the first root showing or so.
In the pic below are the things I use. Ok there’s no root riot I have run out so you’re going to have to imagine that the block of polystyrene is rock wool or root riot I know its lame but work with me.(pic 1)

First clean everything as if you were doing an operation.
Put some of the rooting gel in the tub, the reason for this is you could contaminate your gel if you just dip the cutting it to the bottle.
The next bit I have no cannabis plants to take cuttings off at the moment so I am going to use a tomato plant the idea is the same.

So next the cut choose you’re cutting. Now if you are going to continue to grow the mother plant into flowering then I suggest taking the cuttings from the lower part of the plant as these would be your lowest yielding areas. If you are getting rid of the mother or keeping her in veg for further cutting then take the best cutting you can find I have found that cutting taken from the top of the plant root quicker.

So cut the stem lower than you want the main cut to be, have the bowl of water close by as soon as you have made your cut you want the next bit done as fast as possible. Cut the plant.(pic2)

CUT02.jpg

Now put the cutting in the water this will prevent air getting into the stem as this can damage the cutting and slow its progress, tap the stem to get rid of any air bubbles trapped on it then make a diagonal cut across the stem at the height you want it, I go for the first node on the cutting to be about .5 of a cm above the top of the rock wool block. I try to do this as quickly as I can as if any air has got to the end of the cutting it will not have travelled far up the stem. Then cut a few vertical slits about 5mm from the bottom as shown in the pic,(pic3)

CUT03.jpg

I have used a weight so I had 2 hand free to do other things after the vertical cuts then I scrape some of the bark off the bottom of the stem were you just made the vertical cuts.(pic4)

Sorry for the blurred pic I would have restaged it but my cam battery needs charging.
But you can see the light section were I have removed the bark.
Now get your root gel close and then put the end of the cutting into the gel mix it up a bit with the end of the cutting this will help work the gel in to the cuts you have made.(pic5)

Sorry again for the pics I will restage them over the next day or so.
Now remove it from the gel and push it into the rock wool (polystyrene).(pic6)

After that plane in a propagator and foliar spray 2-3 times a day I also raise the lid on my propagator for 30 minutes a couple of times a day to give them some fresh air.

That it I hope you find something usefully in this

tomatoes are fairly easy to clone, try something hard like lilacs, butterfly bushes, and ect,ive had success with difficult plants, impatients clone qit easily but its hard to keep the clones alive, the roots stay shallow and dont want to dig deep,i got 2 coleaus clones that has new growth.

the sterilization thing is a huge part to ensure a clone to root

+rep for the cleanlyness hunter

thanks wackymack, all my other clones have been cannabis plants i just needed a substitute for the demo and the plants i have going are only 13 days old from seed so no chance of taking a cutting off one of those. i would have to use a rock wool cube a cm square.

i wonder if you could take a 2cm cutting and get it to live?
might try that "mini cuttings"
