'Egghead of the world' and that's a serious compliment from where I live ..... How does one increase humidity without too much expensive? afte watering in gets to around 30% but soon falls back to low 20% ..

any suggestions and as always appreciate any advise

hm. This is a tough one? Maybe try getting out a baking dish, 13x9, or even going to the store and getting a huge metal baking sheet, that is disposable, ones you can use to bake a turkey on. And put hot water in this. and leave it near your plants. I think that should throw a good amount of moisture in the air, try it and read the levels. Plus, if it is dispersed over a large area, like a huge baking sheet, it will release more moisture, especially if it is steaming hot.

how far are you into the grow?low humidity is good when flowering coz it prevents mold...,,i dont think you should put boiling water near ya plants unless you wana boil or steam um?you can put some cups of water in there, thatll help abit,,but to be honest i wouldnt worry to much about low humidity.peace

thanks for the advise,,,, I'm 3 weeks into veg and they appear fine however the advise in the FAQ suggest high levels at the veg stage,, do you think I'll be okay throughout the whole process?

I keep a humidifier in my veg room, you can get a little one for 30-40 bucks at walmart, etc

I'm over the other side of the alantic but will see whats available in the local stores, perhaps the tray with warm water might do the trick for the moment

yes thats a good idea. they wont be steamed haha. Unless you pour scolding hot water onto your plants then they shall be fine(which i do not condone or reccommend )

My friend is using steam and it's not hurting the plants at all - considering that there's no way for the steam to make direct contact with the plants I don't see why it would hurt the plants. He has a pot of water over an electric stove on top of a table that is above the height of the shield for his MH so water doesn't get on the bulb. The temperature is pretty stable and the humidity rose from 20% to about 31%. Plants are looking happier.

A humidifier is good but when you have no money this seems a decent way to correct the problem, although it requires much more maintainence

forget all that,,,,my room is pretty warm so just a few open bottles of water in there was good enough to get my humidity up
