"Everyone" knows about Humboldt.

It has been a name associated with cannabis for, well I really couldn't tell you...

It is referenced in popular culture (songs and other media) sill all the time. There's even a major motion picture.

But the climate is changing as legalization affords places with their own things going on (CO, OR) a chance to put their own names out there.

California, Humboldt (in fact he whole Emerald Triangle) has resisted legalization.

But as someone who lives here... I ask, at what cost? Black market dealers make a lot of money, mostly transporting product out of the County. But the Counties coffers are pretty dry. With a lot of homelessness (mostly people coming here thinking to make green gold) and a tight job market.

I believe we need the new businesses legalization would provide. As it is, many of our most successful businesses are already in that field, in a way (Fox Farms for one). And we could possibly make a nice turn on tourism.

Is it too late for Humboldt/The Emerald Triangle to become The Amsterdam of America/Napa Valley of Weed?

Does our name still make you want to come out here and try all our fine goods? Or, at least, make you more likely to buy a product (many products, most of which aren't based in Humboldt or the region even use the name, area code, or other associated thing on their labeling)?

What's your take on the "Humboldt brand"?

If Humboldt doesn't adapt it won't survive. I am more interested in the local flora than the one species that put you guys on the map.
Perhaps take a page out of FF book and create products for a growing market. Sell them nationally to legal states or globally if you can. Use the brand bc it has recognition. Hire a really good advertising firm. Spend some money, it may help you.
What's the dealo on recreational in CA? If that passes or passed, idk, that'll give you a shot in the arm.

Well I'm not actually in charge of Humboldt, I just live here ;-)

As to the rest... well yeah that's the point... I'm I guess trying to figure out how much of a shot, sort of... hence the question, how much is the name worth still? Would it be worth trying to build an industry around it... once, it would've been pure gold... now, could we at least hope for... copper?

I have lived in CO and OR, and hey have their own great stuff going on... But I do still hear about Humboldt all over. I definitely feel the time is counting down on that.

and yet Roots Organics has a 707 blend, which is the area code for N Ca... they're in Or... and Humboldt Seed Organisation is in Spain... Obviously the brand is something... just trying to "guesstimate" how much...
