hps or mh

ok im about to start a new grow room for veg in my shed i already have a 100watt flouro on my mums and 4 32 watt flouros on my clones which dont seem to be growing to fast i just realised there the wrong kelvin rating there 4000k anyway i was just wondering what people would do for the mums and clones would they buy a new 250watt mh for clones and mums buy a new 250watt for clones and keep mums under 100watt flouro put clones under 100watt flouro and put mums with 250watt mh or put them both under 600watt hps that i already have. the clones will stay under lights till ready to flower so have to take full veg cycle into consideration. all thought appreciated

hps is for flowering

yer i know but i have 2 600watt hps im only using 1 for flowering atm so just wondering what i should do as spending the extra in electricity is equal to buying a new light.

My 2 cents :
Use the flouro for the mums amd buy a new 250MH for clones.
Then switch the light to HPS as soon as u want bloom your clones.

can u get a 600 w mh conversion bulb? i never looked for one and don't know if its out there. but that would do great in the spare hps ballast

Yeah, they do exist, there's a SolarMax version, I don't know how readily available they are elsewhere:

if not give us a run down of your grow. i'm sure we could figure out if you did one thing majorly wrong or a bunch of things kinda wrong. or maybe it was all just due to bumbling around.

thanks for the link, well this has started to happen with each grow i do iv done 4 grows the first got no bud cause messed around with the light the second got 2 ounces dry off a half a foot sea of green and last 2 hardly got any bud i bought a new grow setup and they grow good till it comes to flower and i put them in the flower tent i use half strength nutes and they still go all yellow and brown crunch leaves i thought it was the nutrients first cause i was using hydro so swapped to soil and used canna nutes and it did exactly the same thing someone said the grow tent i was using is poisonus so i took it away for the next grow, anyone with any suggestions? if iv left anything out let me know. o and ph is just noraml tap water ph like 6.5/7 the nutes dont move it at all,

could be too much nutes. got any pics? how much were you giving em?

where did the browning start? at the end of the leaves? all through out the leaves?

does your water contain chlorine? if so did you let it sit out 4 a while?

i would make sure of your ph. check the water that drains after you water your plants. it might surpise you. how are you mixing your nutes. i started mine on 1/4 strenghth and still burned em. good luck

i wasnt giving them any to begin with cause i thought doing it soil u didnt have to lol that was my first soil grow, but then started giving them half strength but before that the burning started happening, iv got them on another thread but il try post them on here, il test the ph i get when i water next, i havnt got the big once any more but it should be the same with the vegging ones, yer think water has chlorine in it and didnt let it stand but its never been a problem before iv done hydro with a flood and drain system for like a year and they were fine then wen i went to a drip system and into another room thats the first time this has started to happen, think it was throughout the leaves... this is why its confusing me so much as iv researched so much but never scene this problem before, il try figure out how to add pics

these are the pictures. and that 53grams wet went to 12 grams dry so i could of been better off buying a ounce, damn put in the cloner pic by accident

but, let me see if i understand. did this happen to both the soil and the hydro? i'm asking because there has got to be a common denominator if so.

i bet the chlorine in the water would effect the hydro less. thats just my guess though. exposingwater to air and moving it around destroys chlorine. i have lived in some places with narly chlorine levels.

what did these things look like as babys?

if you really don't find an answer through all of this, as being that it was in the past- i would suggest just growing 2 or 3 plants and really locking down on style. keep a journal and let those that see what ur doing wrong tell u. i mean really. you can easily grow a plant that looks way better than those without nutes and that extra stuff. not knocking on you or anything. i'm just saying if it happened twice you ur doing something big time wrong. and most likely just one thing! dont give up though. lets go again. and this time don't do the same things. ur bound to unlock the secret yellow monster.

haha yer i wish we could do a grow good dance lol yer this happend to the hydro and soil thats why i was like wtf cause there differnt ways of growing and they both looked the same the only other thing i did was spray with this big bud thing and stopped cause it started to look yellow but then it continued and not sure if u can see the brownish bits on one plant but all plants were coverd with that a couple weeks after.... these through cloning and veg were so nice and green realy good looking plantsentil i put them in my grow room, i should also say that i had another strain before this and it still looked the same like yellow top leaves and brown leaves and stuff, it just realy sucks cause as far as i know im doing the same as everyone else and my setup is like 5 times more expensive than some on here and there getting atleast 10 times more from 1 plant, i was gonna buy some white widow seeds but now dont wanna spend any more till i get this sorted out

that looks like ph problems to me, i just went thru that with my last grow. looked just like yours. i was ph ing the water then adding nutes, nutes will change the ph big time. so you want to level the ph after adding nutes.

iv got 1 nutes that changes the ph but i dont use that any more the canna doesnt seem to effect the ph. but how do u check ph if u only have a hydro ph meter? do u just check run off? and whats it suppose to be?

ok i just checked the ph of the water coming out of the soil... it says 7.5 but the ph meter is saying normal water is 8.3 so guessing its out by 1.3 cause my tape water has always been 7.0 so the water that comes out from soil must be around 6.3 thats almost perfect aint it.

thats a circle of numbers... i'm too high for all that now.

but you know, the problem has to be something common with both grows. i think its the water.
