HPS on ebay

So is there a downside to buying the HPS bulb, reflector and ballast on ebay? They are definitely cheaper, and if the ballast is supposedly new is there anything I need to worry about (aside from the typical ebay shit). My only real concern is an electrical fire or the ballast failing very prematurely. I wouldn't consider anything that I needed to wire or build myself, just kits that are ready to use. What about refurbished kits? Thanks in advance

I would be worried about the light breaking en route unless your going to buy insurance on it incase they break it. At least if you get it from a store you probably wont break it on the way home.

stay away from refurbed shit. is it exactly that, shit. they replace one part that went bad, but it is still an old unit. before you know it, another part will go bad. you have to remember where alot of the old ballasts came from, industrial places. before they switched the lighting to what is used today, they used to believe that hps lighting was the way to go.

What is the feedback of the person you are considering buying from? I don't buy from anyone with less then 98% feedback. Check out the negative feedback in detail.

Be 100% sure the item is new. If it isn't don't buy it.

If everything checks out pay the extra for insurance on the item.

But you would probably be money ahead to go to your local hydro store and buy your set up there.
