I have a p.l light 400w hps. remote ballast, today i go in and the light is not on. i don't have extra bulb to test, but bulb arcs and ballast hums. the ends of the tube in the light are blackened by the light trying to light for so long im sure, i didn't notice if it was there or not. i bought the system used and power on the circuit got high and flickered stuff in my house, so that might of done it. i ran a/c to new circuit away from hps, and now no power flickers but thats when i noticed the light doessnt work. i opened it up no visual problems with componets, ignitor capacitor and transformer didn't looks burnt or disformed. i have a 175w mh in there untill i figure this out. mabey if i bring it to a local hydro store and try a light bulb? mabey just buy one for a spare atleast, but moneys tight.

growing cost more than i thought to get started,
a/c, hps, mylar, pots, soil, cords, timers, seeds, wireless thermostat, list goes on. ....i hope it's a wild harvest.

No kidding! I'm constantly dropping $50-100 at a whack and I don't even have HID lighting yet! But, it's money very well spent.

MAKE 100% SURE THAT YOU'RE USING AN HPS BALLAST AND NOT A MH. MH WON'T FIRE A HPS BULB BECAUSE IT LACKS AN IGNITOR. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, FIRE HAZZARD.
