HPS bulbs.

Hello community,

I have a quick question. I have recently bought HPS bulbs for the flowering stage of my babies. I have realised that they do not illuminate with a regular socket. Can someone help me understand what piece I need to get these babies to light up? I have done research online and I read shit about a ballast? But Idk if that's what I need. Is it something I can pick up from Wal-Mart? Thank you.

no you cant pick up these kinda thing at walmart, what you have a is light right now, what you need is a fixture to put it in.

It sounds like youre reasonably completely inexperienced with these types of lights so let me leave you some links which can help you with understanding the basic concepts of HPS/ Metal Hide & CFLS

Hey everyone,. I'm really confused about this light setup. I called ace hardware and they're telling me that I need a special wire to light up HPS bulbs or metal halide and he's telling me they could start a fire because they burn red hot and he's saying I would need an electrician to install everything. Is it really this complicated? I don't know how to go about doing this

You need a ballets to power a fixture... That you can then put that light Into...Ace guys are only going to know about self contained systems which isn't really how the growing world gets down. Those work for security lighting as in parking lot lights.. But what you need is a remote (as in connected remotely by a cord) Ballast not a piggyback system.Sunni was kind enough to give you all the information you need just follow the links.

I sent you complete links to read which have a ton of information actually read them

They have photos that have writing next to them like diagrams of the exact thing you are talking about it breaks it down completely for you

What he said! Also, if and as that MH (Metal halide bulb) is best for vegging plants, consider putting a couple of tens of buck to get that HPS for flowering. It's not all about the spectrum (light color), but it is a seriously important thing to keep in mind.

And yet, it's not too late for him to do that. 1. Search, look for the info and attempt to understand 2. Ask if necessary. This always works.

That's not true. If I didn't do any work and research then I wouldn't have plants that are flowering. Im just confused and the website and the terms they use are confusing to me. I'm asking on the forum because I'm confused. I been on the link you sent me before and it confused me. I get scoled at because I don't understand how it works huh? Great community and support.

If the tables were turned I would be pouring out information to you. Why? I guess because I'm a nice guy and would love to help. Don't you think I'm capable of googling the keywords and finding that website? I turned here because I didn't understand it. But it seems people here are just rude.
