How's the price of this grow kit

Went to a couple of the top sites and noticed some of the things in the kits were subpar stuff, such as the vent fan, the tent itself, etc.

So far this is one of the best of the prebuilt kits I've seen. Just wondering if that price is well within reason.
it is a good deal for all them together u looking at about 600 650

the only thing is the ballast .........never dim the bulbs are not designed for it so it does not work correctly (light waves are off and number of use able hours is decreased from wear on the filament not getting to hum point)

just add in a speed controller for the fan as your whole tent is only 90cf so a 400cfm on full power u are cycling every 13/12 secs (this is going to concave the tent walls using a passive intake system .....personal exps it sucks in the sides like a new age art.....it changes the angle of reflection on the light and decreases the room u have for the plant to fill in )

if that does not work well enough u will need to build a filtered powered intake

Ahh good to know, so basically when shopping for bulbs I need to make sure they are dimmable ballast compatible? Weird, I've only skimmed through bulbs a few times and have never seen any mention about dimmable compatibility. Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough.Edit: Damn that's unfortunate because I was kinda wanting to run it at 50% (250w) in veg for obvious reasons. Would I be able to just buy a 250 watt bulb to counter that? Or can you not do that. :S

Yup, that was going to be a purchase with it, figured I wouldn't need a 400cfm running full blast. Although I will have my carbon filter hooked up to the reflector. So ill be pulling air through the filter and reflector to cool the bulb. ^_

I wouldn't buy a package from any site. You can usually put together the same exact equipment they have in their package for a way less price, and usually better quality stuff too. Just do a little legwork, it doesn't even take that much time or leaving the computer I'd just go to amazon and price the stuff in their package. I mean just a quick search shows.....

http://www.amazon.com/iPower-GLSETX600DHMAC6-600-Watt-Digital-Dimmable/dp/B005GYRZV2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1453214976&sr=8-5&keywords=600w+grow+light - 600w bulb, ballast, air cooled hood, timer, and hangers $170

http://www.amazon.com/VenTech-VT-IF6-CF6-B-Controller/dp/B0051HDECS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453215035&sr=8-1&keywords=6in+fan+and+carbon+filter - fan, carbon filter, and SPEED CONTROLLER (needed) $140

http://www.amazon.com/iPower-GLDUCT25C-Non-Insulated-Ducting-Aluminum/dp/B008NY6P36/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453215089&sr=8-3&keywords=6+in+ducting - ducting and clamps $18

So this gets you everything that package has PLUS a speed controller for the fan and it's.......only $328, already a $100 in savings. Quantum ballast are not any better that iPower (I have one of each the quantum actually runs way hotter) and all the other intens are the same if not better quality. Like I said that was a really quick search but usually with these package you pay for convenience when it's really not THAT much more convenient to buy from them as opposed to amazon or ebay.

**edit: forgot the grow tent (duh), http://www.amazon.com/MarsLG-Hydroponic-Non-Toxic-Cabinet-MARS363678/dp/B008007U2S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1453215317&sr=8-2&keywords=3x3+grow+tent - 3x3 grow tent for $80

So it's still $50ish dollars in savings, IMO it is slightly higher quality products too. You also get a speed controller which is $20-30 dollars itself so really it's closer to $80ish in savings.

No grow bulb on the market i know of is dim able (none zero zip nada ) all bulbs are designed basically the same a gas with a filament designed for a set power to pass tho it to heat it up to excite the gases in bulb to make the light waves we want ........the gases can be tweaked the glass can be tweaked but not the basic design of it ...but altering the power it is designed for alters the light waves it emits and shortens the life of the bulb because it is always trying to fire up to hum point

the only thing new on the market with bulbs is single end and double end ........the ballast u picked and the hood u picked is the single end bulbs
SE bulbs are more plentiful and lower cost but compared to DE they are 2nd best now .....but more variety and brands
DE bulbs are the new guys on the market they use to be used only in high end commercial grow ballast as they have a better energy tho put with a slightly higher lumen to power ratio then the SE bulbs

if u are ever going to expand your grow room i would tell u to get a Matrix ballast from Solis Tek .......their new ballast handles everything u want plus a built in timer.......then it is just matter of the hood u use if it is made for SE or DE bulbs

do not get me wrong that hood is a fairly good one in your 3x3 area it will max what ever u put in there

just so u know the ipower bulbs are crap ......the one in the package is a better one less lumen drop after 10k hours

and that tent u picked is crap .......had one like it compared to secret jardin it is sheer crap the corners are going to break the hanging brackets will crack ....the passive air take is a flap that never stays open and the number of ports that it offers is joke as it limits u from messing with your set up

if u buy cheap u buy crap ....might get grow or 2 out of it but the chance of it failing increases with every hour u run the lights (uv light heat and weight wins in that tents design )

Indeed, I thought about going the "cheap china" route but opted out of it. Just the reviews alone on the ipower put me off. You don't hear solistek, lumatek, phantom, etc up and stop working, or blowing up bulbs. Especially when dealing with things that could be a potential fire hazard. Would rather pay an extra amount to get quality.

Haha, so testy. I was just trying to give the guy some perspective, I didn't spent money on an "good" (meaning expensive) tent and my grows have turned out fine. I guess it's a matter of what experiences you have, I've never had a problem with the current cheap tent I have (completed 4 grows and will be 5 in a couple weeks), but yea definitely spend your money how you like. I agree the iPower bulbs are crap but you could use those savings to buy a better bulb, or spend a little more on a tent. You could also just get a grow out of the bulb and then switch it too, I mean there are options I wasn't saying that was the best stuff or anything. All I'm saying is your not really getting much more in this package except a bulb and a tent. Also as I stated that was a VERY quick search, I literally picked the first things that came up on Amazon. Just trying to show that you can build your own "package" for usually a cheaper price.
