How well would this work?

Autos make no sense to me. They aren't that potent, don't grow very large, and can't be cloned.

I'd personally grow 1 mother plant and clone that every time you want to grow. A week or two after getting cuttings from the mother plant, the clone will get roots. You you can then fruit those clones immediately just like you would with an auto-flowering plant (and use less light too). Autos still have a week or two (or more) of vegging from my understanding. Same goes for clones even if you put them in 12/12 lighting they'll veg for about a week or two. Most clones are typically no-more than a few inches tall when you put them in fruiting. The most they'll grow in hight is 1.5 feet to 2 feet (depending on light intensity and CO2). They yield about .5-1 oz each.

I wouldn't grow one small/medium (i.e 1.5-2 feet finishing hight) plant at a time (auto-flowering plants are usually smaller that. Most of the time they're even smaller than SOG style clones). You should clone a mother plant and grow a lot of tiny plants at one time that way you can have more weed and still use the same amount of space. With a 400w setup you can put 16 cuttings under one light and fruit them immediately once the roots develop. You'll get way more weed in the same space and in the same time.

Thats just my logic though. One auto-flowering plant would roughly get you an 1/8 of an ounce to 1 ounce...where as in 7-9 weeks you can get 8-10 oz in 7-8 weeks doing what I just told you.

That storage container or one slightly taller and wider would be great for a small SOG setup. You'd need one extra area to keep the mother plant and non-rooted clones at.

well this is a first grow and the posted cabinet will be in a bedroom closet with light off during day and on at night. I want a good yield But i also want an easy quick grower. This will be my own personal stash just so i can save money and the headache of dealers. I dont smoke alot either maybe 1 bowl a day.

Well i do already have 2 26 watt cfl think they are 6500 spectrum cause they are more blue than a halogen bulb.

So would i be better off just getting 4 or 5 smaller cfls with a lower spectrum for growing then add my 2 26 for veg?

Why fabric pots btw?

I dont mean this the wrong way but you would be better off reading a book or googling what you need instead of relying on what someone says here for everything. It would help in the long run when something goes wrong, and it will, you will know how its built, or wwhatever is wrong you will know just be looking at it or hearing it run instead of waiting here for some one to answer your ??'s.

I think your advice is poor to the OP.

Autoflowers can be cloned, but not the same way that a non-auto flower would be cloned. You just have to grow a male once, keep some pollen, then toss it in the trash. Take any autoflower you like and lightly brush a tiny bit of pollen on one of the lower branches. Harvest all the rest including this one, but keep the seeds from this one instead.

You'll have about 50 seeds off of one Autoflower.

Then instead of mothers, cloning, rooting, and then vegging, the OP would simply drop a seed in rockwool and then be done with it.

My experience with autoflowers is that they yield approx 1/2oz each regardless of the strain (Tried 8 strains). I was feeding them veg nutrients (450ppm) with a 1kW veg lamp too. Certainly NOT optimal conditions for one. :) However, I did them just to fill the extra space in the veg room because why not, it's free! :)

Your advice would be suitable for someone who wants to have a perpetual harvest or someone who really wants clone strains not autoflower strains and can have the square footage to support that grow too. Now that you know how to reproduce autoflower seeds, I'm sure it'll make a little sense..........

GL, OP......

Ive done a grow before kinda. I threw it out before any flowering cause it wasnt my home at the time. Now i own my place and would like to start again but im looking for better ways to do things. Last time i had i think 5-6 cfls all right over the center of the plant and it grew fine. Just added some water when the top soil was dry then ran a fan and lights 18/6.

I want to do it again but im trying to find tips on how i can upgrade my last setup i threw together to have the best grow i can for what i want.

thepiratebay.org and search for marijuana -- you'll find tons of dvd's and books to download on how to grow better. CFL's are cute, but will only get you so far. Yield is a result of a perfect grow environment and then the amount of veg time and flower light you give them. If you even went to a self enclosed 150w HPS that C.A.P. sells for like $80 then you'd see a substantial yield quadrupling and keep your CFL's for vegging instead.

Good luck!
